New Upload to CardData.xml Files

Post by Cowhead »

I decided to break the ice in the new CardData.xml Files section. Here's how I described the file I just uploaded:

**************************
These card notes are from The Pictorial Key to the Tarot, by Arthur Edward Waite, published 1911. They are a perfect fit for the Pamela A pack, but will work equally well for other RWS packs and clones: Dominatrix's Traditional Tarot, Rider Waite Smith, Universal Waite, Aquatic Tarot, etc. They should also fit reasonably well with dozens of RWS clones: Golden Tarot, Hello Tarot, Aquarian Tarot, Hanson-Roberts, Stick Figure Tarot, Tarot of Prague, etc.

Each card has Waite's description and his sometimes rather lengthy notes. Divinatory meanings, upright and reversed, are also shown.

The cards in the Minor Arcana also have Additional Meanings. These are interpretations Waite collected from other sources. Be aware that they are often speculative and frequently contradict each other. Few, if any, were written with the RWS pack in mind. Use or ignore them as you see fit.
**************************

What I forgot to mention was this: All of the text came from the Internet Sacred Text Archive. (URL: http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm If you haven't been there yet, you *really should* check it out...). I did a little bit of reformatting and a bunch of cutting and pasting. The real work of scanning and OCR, however, was done by someone else, so thank you whoever you are!

Enjoy!

Thx for the file, Cowhead, I think it's a basic one to have. And yes, Sacred Texts is a wonderful resource (I knew it from a while). It's great to be aboard of a long tradition of RWS clones... Best.
