Hello all,
I'm kind of thinking aloud here. Looking to see what others think and maybe creating more work for Richard......sorry!
There was recently a thread on Aeclectic Tarot forum where members were discussing how they store their deck collection information. Mention was made of The Tarot Organizer database software from Tarot Garden (http://www.tarotgarden.com/boutique/torginfo.html) which sells for US$25. Other than that, people just seem to create basic lists in Excel/Word etc.
I don't currently have a comprehensive list of all of my spiritual tools (pendulums, stones, runes) and decks. And I really want one, so I started thinking about Orphalese. I think it would be an excellent tool for collection information as a lot of these details could be entered into the Deck's text field. Things like:
Deck Purchase/Download date and source
Deck Cost
Creator/Author/Illustrator
Publisher Information
ISBN Number
I'm wondering though, whether some of these details should be kept in fields of their own, which would make them searchable and reportable. For example, how cool would it be to be able to print a list of decks by the same Publisher.
I would also like a field that denotes whether or not I own the physical deck, and a field for whether the deck has card notes (or my notes) etc. Then, it would be great to be able to print a list of decks that I own, or, a list of decks that I've downloaded, or both. (I know I can print a list of folders but I was hoping for a more comprehensive report than this.)
I assume that you can create packinfo.xml files for decks that you don't have physical scans of the cards as I might not want pictures of some of my spiritual tools.
Does anybody have any comments, thoughts or ideas?
Regards

Re: Using Orphalese as a Deck Collection Database
Dear Folks,
I like the idea of a deck database. The initial description sounds pretty good. Key information -- title of deck, name of author/artist/publisher, whether it's a physical deck or OT file or both, etc. -- should go in individual fields for searchability. It would be nice to have a comments box for additional notes. I would find this a useful feature because my reviewing work means I get a *lot* of divinatory tools.
Best wishes,
Elizabeth Barrette
