Hi,
I have today upgraded to the newer version as sugested to enable me to download decks by other users.
I have not until today han any problems with this program, and indeed have recomended it to several people who are all very impressed as well.
However having read the upgrade instructions and been informed no decks or files will be removed, I now have lost ALL my files, decks, history, readings etc.
Not a happy bunny, but will remember not to head instructions next time and just keep using an older version.
Is there any way I can retrieve these files etc?
Also I cannot run the newer version until I delete one as I am running 3 programs already, does this mean that when I upgrade I have to remove the comlete program as well, totally confused .com!
Help and advice much apreciated at this end, think I'll open a Baileys!
Thanks Phil

Re: Upgrade problems
Hi Phil,
I am really sorry to hear that this has happened. When I say that uninstalling will not affect any files that you have added yourself I am basing that on the Windows Installer documentation that says the same thing. Windows Installer should never remove any files that it did not itself install. Obviously it would be very worrying if it does do that, not just for users of the Orphalese Tarot but also for users of any other program that uses Windows Installer. I have done a Google search on this but I haven't been able to find any other cases of this happening. What I will do is post a question about it on some Microsoft forums and see if anyone can explain how this might happen. I strongly suspect that because this is a situation that is never contemplated in the Installer documentation there will not be any way to recover the lost data. One thing that occurs to me (which I am sure you have checked but I have to ask anyway) is are you sure you never designated a custom folder for you decks, spreads and readings in the Options form? If so then looking in the usual Program Files directory you might well find it empty.
As far as the licensing goes, you can run the program on three machines. If you already have it installed and running on three other computers you should go into the program using one of those, go to the "My Machines" item on the main menu (Tarot Zone >> My Machines) and then deactivate any of them that you no longer use. That will free up a slot for the new one. Having deactivated the program on an older machine does not mean you cannot still use it in practice, just you cannot keep getting upgrades for it. I hope this clarifies it. Feel free to drop me a line using the contact form on the website if you need me to deactivate any of the existing machines manually.
Cheers,
Richard

Re: Upgrade problems
Thanks for the information Richard,
Luckily I have duplicated the program on my laptop so was able to copy the files across, once bitten twice shy as they say!
Thanks again for a very useful program.
