I am not sure if it is something I am doing ut, I seem to lose any notes (cardoinfo.xml)in a deck if I change decks in Ophalese.
The notes are there if I have not change a deck that day, but once I change from one deck to another, the notes disappear from cardinfo.xml. Then if I copy the file back again, they will disappear again once I try to edit the notes on the deck.
The same thing happens if I try to enter the notes in edit in the progam
I am on Windows 2000, service pack 4 and have the latest release of Orphalese - 7.6.2.2
Thank you

Notes and changing decks
Hi Redbunyip,
That is very strange. Does it happen all the time, every single time you change decks, or just sometimes? For example, is it true to say that you are looking at the pop-up notes for a deck, then you change to another deck, then you change back, and there are no longer any pop-up notes, ever (even when you haven't gone in and done any editing)?
I have heard of something similar happening to one person when they edited notes - their changes were not saved. But then it turned out that it was because they had edited the notes using an external program, and that program saved the file in ASCII, not Unicode or UTF-8 format, which the program is set up to read. So my next question is whether you are using an external text editor to edit the files, and whether it just affects one deck or all notes in all decks?
Something to bear in mind is that if you are using a deck, and you copy notes into the deck folder using explorer or something, those changes will be lost when you change decks. This is because the notes file is held in memory by the program, and saved back when you switch decks. If you are going to manage your notes using Explorer, it is better to do it when the program is not running.
Does anything here shed any light on the problem?

Yep, you are right, I was trying to edit the notes using notepad. And they were not saving, I also had the program open while I was editing the carddata file. So as you said it would have wiped out any changes when I changed from deck to deck at the time.
Thank you for your help. It is working now, (I'll leave the direct carddata editing to the experts I think and just do it through the program) :)
