Ideas on how to categorize decks

Post by Aurora »

Hi to all:

Any ideas or examples on how to categoriza decks in the Orphalese?

Last night I spent some time trying to categorize. I tried to keep it symple, but still have many decks that do not fit in my categories.

My examples:

Art Decks - There goes any deck which art is more important than tarot substance...

Antiques-

Playing Cards-

Mayor Arcana only -

Marselles Style -

Leonomard Style -

Children -

Classic -

Erotic - this is growing))))))))))))))

Exotic -

Spiritual - Here goes meditation cards, herbal, flowers, animal totems, moon oracles, etc...

Want to share your ideas?

Love,
Aurora

My categories pretty much reflect yours, except that I divide my decks first by Tarot vs NonTarot. Within Tarot I separate the Trumps Only decks from the Full decks. Trumps Only are divided into two alphabetized halves.

Full Decks are divided into Antique decks (Visconti, Marseilles, 1JJ, Minchiate, etc),
Waite-Smith color variations (Pamela A, Universal, BOTA B&W, Diamond, Radiant, etc) and
all the rest divided into alphabetical chunks (size of the chunk determined by whether or not the sublist fits on the monitor screen without scrolling).

NonTarot decks are divided into regular playing cards (Stonehenge, M&M, Cartomancy, etc),
Oracles (I-Ching, Runes, Lenormand, Mah Jongg, etc),
Abtract (Fractals, Chaos, Crow's Magic, Isomorphic, etc) ,
pure Art decks (they may have trumps and 78 cards, but the pictures are dictated by the theme, not the card meaning),
Erotica,
Different number schemes (Mantegna, Egipcios Kier, etc.)

Some decks fall into more than one category, so sometimes I duplicate and sometimes I don't, I just decide where am I likely to look for it when I want it.
