I have noticed that the forum page often seems to hang after posting a new message, and I think it might have something to do with the way I am sending the email notifications out...If this message goes out nice and smartly it should mean that it is fixed.

My last post timed our while writing (it was a short one), but since I copied the text, I repeated the process and went fine. I've noticed no hangs nor XP or Vista. Best.

As you can see, I send prev message twice after getting a time-out warning...

It isn't quite right though...as you know, when someone posts on the forum it sends a notification to everyone who wants one. This should take place asynchronously, but for some reason it has been happening in real time, which is the reason for that delay. I also suspect that when an error occurs during posting (which it often does, for reasons which have to do with the same thing) it means that not everyone will have received their notification. I'll keep on tinkering .)

Well, I did a bit of tinkering this morning but didn't get time to upload the changes, so let's see if it makes any difference...

Hopefully I have now found a permanent fix for the timeout problem when leaving a forum post...you should be able to type in a forum message, go and take the dog for a walk for a long walk, then come back and press Post Message without losing anything.

Just testing. I've started the reply and I'm letting time go... Seems to work real nice this time...
