AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! Can you hear me screaming.... don't use the Beta. It doesn't save any of your notes. I just got done with an hour and a half of working with a reading and I go to pull it all together... and the only notes I have are the last ones I typed.
I am fully aware that this is my fault. I'm using Beta software so I'm not really upset, I'm actually sitting here laughing, although I'm going to need to redo the reading and you know it never comes out the same the 2nd time around. Although I'm sure the reading will be much better this time .-)
I just didn't want this to happen to anyone else. If you close the card notes after each addition or change it will save your changes. So if you are using the Beta, make sure you're doing that, or roll back to the official release. Or check to see if it is working this could be a specific problem with my system.

7.6.2 Beta Not saving notes
Ok, there is a newer Beta, and this doesn't happen in that. So if you want to use the Beta make sure you are working with the one that was last updated on the 10th of November.

7.6.2 Beta Not saving notes
Webweaver,
Aaaaaaaaaaaaagh, Indeed. A thousand apologies.
The strange thing though is that there has only been one release of the beta so far, which was on Friday evening (10th November). I have had a look and I think the problem is it wasn't saving when you navigate by entering the number directly in the box, but it was if you used the buttons to navigate. Do you think that might be what you were doing, i.e. first you used the textbox method and later the buttons?
I will bring a new version of the beta out later this morning with optional card click navigation as discussed, and I will make extra sure it saves in all scenarios.
Sorry again!
Richard

7.6.2 Beta Not saving notes
Hi Webweaver and anyone else who is trying the beta...
I just uploaded the latest one.
I think I have got the behaviour of the two navigation systems right now. The issue of which is the default doesn't really come into it because the program will remember your preference until you change it.
There are a couple of other features of the beta that haven't been commented on yet, so if anyone wants to give the Find Deck feature (a new item on the My Decks menu) a try then any feedback would be appreciated. Also, any thoughts on the F8 toggling - is it intuitive?
Cheers

Actually I do think that was what was happening, because when I started again there was a card that it did save, so I think it was how I was moving through them, and when I re-loaded the beta, I went in order so I think it might have had something to do with moving backwards as well as maybe the number, cuz the 1st run thru I wasn't going in order.
I'll let ya know soon on the new Beta .-)

Hi Richard,
I just installed 762, and the deck feature works fine, as long as you remember that it is case sensitive.... (You might want to make it non-case sensitive)
So far for Win 98, it's running fine....
Take Care,
Marvin

Hi Richard,
Haven't run into any more saving issues. Whew! I did not have a problem with the find being case sensitive, so maybe that is a .-) Merlin issue.
I did want to mention that the number showing in the box for the meanings doesn't match the xml number of the card. The navigation number for the Fool is 1, while the card number is 0. The text of the box does make that understandable. ie The Fool is card 1 of 78. Just thought I'd mention it. Which actually might be what happened to my meanings and I'll have to check that and get back to you. If I was going to card 35, and I entered 35, I would actually have went to the 35th card of 78 which would be card 34..
I feel the F8 is intuitive and didn't have any trouble understanding the options. I do want to mention it is working on one of my systems and not the other, however I think that has to do with Yahoo's Widget engine, because it was working. I turned off F8 for the Widgets and I think it somehow turned it off for Orphalese too. Any suggestion on that? LOL I can't seem to get it turned back on.

Nope didn't find the missing meanings... so I'm sure it was how I was moving through them.

7.6.2 Beta Not saving notes
Hi Shari,
I know about the business of card numbering and gave it a bit of thought. In the end I decided people would be used to the Card n of m approach from using database programs etc so it be less confusing. I could always add a reminder on the label if it turns out to be an issue (e.g. Card 35 of 78 (Index 34) or something).
Re the Widgets, I don't think that is it. They are a remarketing of Java aplets aren't they? It is probably that the F8 key stroke was getting lost, which it sometimes does when you don't have anything selected. Every key stroke that the Windows O/S detects should go to the active window in the active program, but sometimes when moving between decks, dealing cards etc you can end up in a situation where Windows itself is not sure where to send the key stroke notification. Just tapping once on the deck or background should bring the shortcut keys back (or you can always use the menu instead).
I will probably go live with this version at the weekend, and then a few weeks after that will come the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig beta - Orphalese 7.7 .)
Cheers
