Hi Richard
I get to know the program better and better and can now understand why people praise it in reviews. It is really a great program and I already love it.
I am on my way on the overhaul of the German translation. OTZ_de is complete, Prog_de is on its way and Web_de should be ready at least sometime this weekend. You'll get the files together because I switch between them so that the translation is consistent in each file.
Sometimes it's a bit tricky because the translation should depend on where the item will appear in the program. Mostly I can assign the items to there appearance in the program and if not, I collect them and will open a new thread for them the next days so that you can give me a hint.
But now I have a question and suggestion for the DeckManagementMessage dialogue. It says: “While using the Deck Management Utility there will be no selected deck. The program will be operating in a special mode with limited features. Any cards that are out will be collected and any readings cleared. When you finish using this tool, simply select a deck from the My Decks list in order to continue using the program in the normal way.”
Is it still the way that after finishing the Deck Management Utility you have to select a deck to continue using the program in the normal way? I have tested that. Every time I use the close button from the Deck Management Utility the program jumps back to the last deck I had selected before using the Deck Management Utility. And the program works fine without doing something. Maybe the last sentence could be canceled in the message window?
And than it could be a bit annoying for a user that he will loose his reading when opening the Deck Management Utility without having a chance to save it. Maybe you can program a continue and a cancel button in the massege window to give the user the chance to save the reading? This is just a suggestion though because I don’t know if you can change something here at all.

Re: DeckManagementMessage
Hi Katrin,
I am glad to hear you are getting on so well. I had a look at the way the deck management loads and obviously it is an oversight that it doesn't display a warning message before collecting the cards. I have fixed this in the beta 6.3.2.4 which I just uploaded. As to what deck is displayed, or whether a deck is displayed, the reasoning is that the user is quite likely to edit the file structure of their decks folder while the form is open. There is no deck selected while the form is displayed for this reason, because otherwise file-locking issues would make it impossible to rename or move the deck in question. If the deck that was previously used has been named or removed during the operation of the form then the user has to select a deck from their My Decks list. Otherwise the program resumes with the last deck used. Perhaps the message would be clearer if the last sentence read When you finish using this tool it might be necessary... etc. What do you think? It is a do-not-show-this-again message so please feel free to be a bit more verbose if you think it will make the situation clearer :)

Re: Re: DeckManagementMessage
Hi Richard,
thanks for your replay. I have now changed the text a bit in the way you have suggested and think it will work.
Prog_De is now finished too. Tomorrow I will post you the collected items I still need some hints for.
Even though I have changed a lot in the file (and OTZ_De too) I have to say, that the previous translators did a damn good job!!! I don't think that I could translate a German program in such a good English version. Of course it's always easier for a native speaker to translate a program.
Tomorrow I'll start with Web_De and that should be finished at least on sunday. I can't work on it an saturday because I have to go to my grandpa to celebrate his 100.(!!!) birthday. But Web_De is not as big as Prog_De so this shouldn't be a problem. Then I will send you all files.
Maybe, when you have integrated the files, you can mail me a link to a program version where I can download it and test the translation.
And then next steps for me will be:
- write a german review in the german equivalent to Aeclectic forum about this great program
- creating a german version of the CardData.xml file (that will be very important and interesting for potential german users)
- upload some very interesting spreads in English (and German) to give back the people here a bit for all the deck packs I have already downloaded and installed
- upload two decks I still miss in the list (Tarot 200 Pagan and Ananda Tarot)
As you can see from my list I love this program more and more!!!
And, Richard, don't forget to send me a help file for translation even though it might not be up to date. A lot of german people think their english is not good enough to use an english program. (As you can see from my posts and mails I don't have this problems
) Some features I got to know only while going through the whole program because of the translation. So I think a (not up to date) german help file would be realy good.

Re: Re: Re: DeckManagementMessage
Hi Katrin,
I am really pleased to hear you are getting so much out of the program. The last version you sent me is incorporated into the version of the program I released today. Soon you will get used to how the Orphalese Tarot evolves - the program is really in a continual state of rollout as users check in to the OTZ and discover that there is a new version of the program or a new beta to try out. I am waiting for a number of resource files to come back, so probably I will release a minor revision in a couple of weeks that will incorporate all the updated resources.
I am hopefully quite close to bringing the English help file completely up to date, so that should be with you in a few days.
Thanks again!
Richard
