I resolved this with Althea outside the Forum, but here is the explanation for anyone who searches on this error message. Basically it shows up when you only have a single machine licence, and you have transferred that licence to a new machine by registering the program on it. This means that you can no longer get upgrades for the program on the first machine. If you only have a single machine licence you should not install the program on a subsequent machine until you have definitively stopped using the first one (scrapped it, sold it on etc).
Just occasionally the program mistakes the original machine for a new one. This can happen for example if you change your hardware configuration. In that case you might see this message erroneously, which was the case for Althea. If you think you are getting this message by mistake please contact me via the contact form on the website.
