I recently got a new computer, and wanted to redownload (and register) a new version of Orphalese. Well, when I downloaded the 8.12 version from the website and tried to open it I got one of those microsoft crash errors that they want to send the information back to microsoft.
I uninstalled and redownloaded from a different download link with the same problem.
I'm running Windows 7... please help :)
Thanks
Will not let me open downloaded program

Re: Will not let me open downloaded program
Just to make sure I have understood you right, the crash happens as soon as you try to install the program, so the problem seems to be with the installer rather than the program itself?
The download links on the website now work by just downloading a smallish setup file, and then when you run it this in turn downloads all the files it needs for installation. Perhaps the problem has something to do with this. If you scroll further down the download page you should find links to some zip files which contain all the files you need for installation in one go. If you download one of these and unpack it and try installing by clicking on setup.exe do you get the same error?
Another thing which it might be to do with is if you don't have .NET Framework 4 installed. In this case it should not crash, but it would try to connect to Microsoft to download that first. Perhaps if you made sure that was installed first (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... x?id=17851) it might make a difference.

Re: Will not let me open downloaded program
HI :) Sorry it took me so long to revisit this issue. Family and internet issues were in the way!
okay.. Basically, I uninstalled Orphalese and then reinstalled it from the website. Before I did that, I downloaded net 4 from your link. I think I already had it installed, but it's okay.. I did this anyways.
So, i got Orphalese reinstalled (this is on a new computer, by the way).
I click on the program to start so it will load and I get an error. It says this...
An error has occurred which will prevent the user from registering the program. The program will continue to run normally int he free (unregistered) mode. Then, I also get a 'windows' error notification that orphalese has stopped working and that windows is collecting more information about the problem.. then another pop up wants to know if I want to send this information to microsoft.
So, it's like the orphalese crashes upon opening.

Re: Will not let me open downloaded program
I just wanted to give another update. I'm still trying to download and set up a fresh copy (I had a previous paid version on my old computer) This new computer has windows 7 and I think it is a 64 bit.
I have uninstalled and installed every version on your download page with the same error occuring every time. (The error I mentioned in the above post).
I don't understand what could be causing this. It installs but when I try and open it, it says it's a problem with the registration. I remember I used to get that screen on my old computer but I would just ignore it, and it would start right up with no problem. This time, it seems to crash and I get a windows prompt to report to microsoft. I would really appreciate any help I can get!
Thanks!

Re: Will not let me open downloaded program
It sounds like it is a fairly fundamental problem, and not anything to do with registration. What the program does is try to show the unlock form (the window which prompts you to enter your registration details). If for some reason that won't load it goes on to show the message you are seeing, saying that the program will run in unregistered mode. Then it tries to show the deck. Obviously on your computer it can't show the deck either. So both windows produce an error when they try to load, the difference is that the first error is handled by the program and the second error isn't. The Microsoft message is what you get when an error occurs that is not handled by the program. My guess is it has something to do with it being a 64 bit version of Windows even though in theory that should not be a problem.
The only way forward that occurs to me right now is if I can send you a copy of the program with more explicit error messages, to try to catch exactly what is going wrong. Do you think you can send me a message via the contact form on the website? Then I will have your email address and we can try a few tests. If we manage to get the problem resolved I will post back here with the outcome for the benefit of other users.
