Can't use the Deck Service anymore since newest upgrade

Post by Starcat50 »

Hello,

since my newest upgrade some days ago (I didn't use the upgrade service or the deck service for a long time, I think over a year or more) I can't use the Deck Service anymore. It just doesn't connect to the server or how many hours have I to wait? I also can't install the Deck Service because the setup forces me to have a windows password and it doesn't install without one.

Any help for that?

Greetings

Hi Starcat,

I made some changes to the firewall setting on the new server yesterday and inadvertently stopped the file exchange from working, but that has been fixed now. You should be able to go in and download decks with no problem.

With regard to the Deck Service, there are two points to be made. The first point is that you only need to install it if you want to share some of your decks with other users. To do this you need to be a registered user. If you are not a registered user or you just want to download decks from the Deck Exchange you don't need to install it. I am sure you know this, but I am repeating it because I have had some emails which make me realise it is not completely clear to everyone.

The second thing is that there is a new version of the Deck Service as of July this year which gives you two options for installation. You can either install and run it under a local user account (which requires a user password and makes sense if there is more than one user of the program sharing the same machine) or under the local machine account, which doesn't need a password. It sounds like you have the previous version of the Deck Service so the answer is just to download the new one.

Cheers,
Richard
