Hi, I was using Orphalese Tarot software version 8.11. Initially the deck exchange service was ok but lately I had problems with it. Every time I tried downloading a deck I get this message "Unable to find the other user-they might have logged off".
I'm using Windows XP professional SP2. I went to administrative tools and tried to start the Orphalese Deck service but got the message "Error 2 - The system cannot find the file specified". so I decided to uninstall and installed the latest version of Orphalese version 8.12, the installation was fine but I was unable to install the Deck service. When I tried installing it I got the message "Setup has detected that you're running an outdated version of Orphalese tarot, Please remove the program...". I've tried installing and uninstalling a couple of time but have given up hope .
I dont know how to make the deck exchange work againI use the registered version of the software. Thank you in advance for whatever assistance.
"Setup has detected that you're running an outdated version of Orphalese tarot, Please remove the program...".
, I figured that uninstalling the previous Orphalese program did not remove the deck service so I went and learn How to Remove an Unwanted Service in Windows 7/Vista/XP. Viola, I manage to install the deck service that I downloaded. I'm giving the link so that others can solve this problem too. http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/how-t ... d-service/.
Anyway, everything is fine now, I can start and restart the deck service BUT unfortunately I still cant download any decks . Still receive this message "Unable to find the other user-they might have logged off". I don't know whats the problem. Perhaps its the Orphalese deck server problem. Hopefully someone can help me out. Thanks.
The Deck Service used to be bundled with the program and it caused all kinds of problems like the one you had. Sometimes people would uninstall the program but it would not uninstall the service. It sounds like this is what happened with you, so you eventually had to remove the Deck Service manually.
Remember that the Deck Service is only necessary if you want to share your decks with other users. If you just want to download decks from the Deck Exchange you do not have to install the Deck Service. This is why I removed it from the main installation - most people do not share any decks, so I was creating unnecessary problems for them.
Well, the server is running fine at the moment, so the problem is nothing to do with the server, and as I said it is nothing to do with the Deck Service. Can you tell me a bit more about the problem. When you click on the preview button in the Deck Exchange, can you see the preview card? Do you get the "Unable to find the other user-they might have logged off" message for every single deck you try to download, or just for some of them? The reason I ask is because the only difference between seeing the preview and downloading the deck is the size of the file in question (with the preview it is just one card). If you can do one but not the other it makes me think it is because of the size of the deck, that it is taking too long and causing a time out. What if you try downloading a smaller deck, one which has a dark green tag showing that it is normally a quick download?
Hi Richard,
Thank you for your prompt reply. Yes, I can see the preview card. You're probably right maybe it timed out. Most of the deck I tried to download even the ones with the dark green tag took long to download. Probably its because of poor internet connection from my side today. Its ok, I'll try again in the next few days and see what happens. Will post again soon..hopefully with better news .
Thanks again Richard and have a nice day!
Hi Richard,
Just to update you..Yes, you are right. Its the poor broadband connection that I'm facing. Everything is fine now. I'm soo happy Thank you for your help. Have a nice day.
