Opinions Wanted

Post by Programmer »

Hi Everyone,

I am kicking around the idea of including a stats page in the OTZ which would be visible to registered users only.

This could include a Who's in da house? section, showing the list of users currently logged on to the OTZ. Would this be welcome? Would it be of interest to see who else was using the OTZ at any given moment, or would it feel like an invasion of privacy?

The list of connected users is a common feature in a lot of forums and private communities around Internet, not only on IM programs. It satisfies a certain curiosity, and improves communication, in the likes of Oh, now that TarotFreakXXXL is connected, I'm gonna reply his post. It is OK for me, but let's hear what other users say. In other communities I belong, like DeviantArt or WinCustomize, there's also a list of Top Contributors and Top Uploaders. Anyway, since this is a very small community, you'll see the same names all the time. Best.

Dear Richard:

I like the idea to see who else is using the OTZ. In fact, I always look for the information that says how many users and guests are visiting. I feel companionship when I see so many users are log on at the same time as me! I feel comfortable and warm, knowing other users are present in this magic space that you created for us. I`m empath and like to be around people, though I cannot talk to them.
I do not see this as an invasion to my privacy, I see it as a way to be more connected to each other and anchor a sense of community. And we do a lot of things that communities do, like share decks, card notes, spreads, our likes or dislikes about the decks and about any program feature, etc...

Thanks for the new additions in beta 6.3.1

Love,
Aurora

Hi Richard,

[Queen of Swords bit]

Like Aurora, I often feel warm and connected knowing there's unspecified other folks in da house, but I'm really allergic to IM systems, as they invariably generate messages that interrupt me when I'm pressed for either time or attention. I prefer email systems that can be responded to beyond the bounds of Time and Space instead of the ever merciless _*Now*_. Stealth Mode is therefore extremely endearing to me as it completely eliminates a lot of unintended rudeness.

Would LOVE to have a real time communication feature! That way I wouldn't have to learn to swim to talk to you! .-). However, I also see the valid point Gisella has made - privacy. If there is a way to login/logout/ignore, IMHO, it's a great idea!

Christine and all:

I will love to have a comunication feature in TZ. I remembered some time ago, that we have a chat feature in TZ. I made a Tarot reading for Dominatrix using the feature. It was a great experience, as could lay the cards as I speak/write to him.
As Christine says it will be perfect if there is a way to log in and out of it.

Love,
Aurora

Hi All,

Lets see:

1) A reading room. (Yes, I'm all for it! As long as it's voluntary!)
2) A Chat room (Again, yes, I'm all for that as long as it's voluntary only! Not just to talk shop, but just to be neighborly, and see how people are doing....)
3) A list to see Who's Home (It would be nice, the warm and fuzzys are always a good thing)

All of ny other ideas have already been listed, so I'll end with thanks,

Later,

Marvin
