Vista crashes when downloading decks

Hello friends,

I was hoping that there might be someone who could help me with this. I downloaded Orphalese yesterday onto my Vista laptop with no difficulty. The version I have is 8.6. so that isn't a problem. The program itself works fine, until I come to try and download any decks, then the program crashes immediately I click on the download link. This happens whether I click on the link itself, or right click and choose "save link as...". I have even tried uninstalling and downloading one with a different deck. I am using a fully registered copy.

I really would appreciate any assistance.

Where are you going to download the decks? What deck are you trying to download?

Orphalese is crashing or your browser is crashing? Could you tell us exactly what is happening?

I am using Vista on both a desktop & laptop, and the only issues I've had recently are the server being down. So it may be something particular to your system.

Thank you for replying. I have been going to the Orphalese Tarot Zone from within Orphalese itself. I cannot download any of the decks from either category. I can browse what is available and then click on the link which says download, and then Orphalese just crashes i.e. I get a message saying that Orphalese has a problem and needs to close. I don't have a problem downloading spreads, just the decks - any decks. There is an error file in the program folder with the same details:
Date: 08/05/2009 11:15:11 Version: 8.6.1.1 Error:
Parameter is not valid.
There are no other details available.

Hi Mandy, just to be clear you are entering the Tarot Zone, clicking on Decks, clicking on Decks by other artists and friends of the program, and then selecting a deck such as the Aeclectic Community Tarot?

I did this with both my Vista machines, one has IE8 and one has IE7, and encountered no problem. I tried both installing directly and downloading 1st and installing. What version of IE are you using?

I'm going to make a few suggestions, and it may or may not help, if they don't Richard will need to help with this, you can contact him directly via the forum here.

Clear your cache and cookies, make sure your setting for security is at Medium to Medium-High, reboot your computer.

Also can you download from outside of the program? Goto: http://www.orphalese.net and try dowloading directly from your browser not inside Orphalese.

Hi Mandy,

Sorry I missed your original post, I have had my eyes off the ball a bit recently. I think the best thing would be to do what Shari suggested and go to http://www.orphalese.net. I think the next version of the program that I bring out won't try to host any web pages at all, because it does tend to cause some problems like this which are hard to debug. Instead I will just have it open the user's default browser and go to the page in question.

Thank you for getting back, I do appreciate it. I am a bit behind with everything but I did do what Shari suggested and went to the tarot zone and tried downloading from there. That seemed to solve my problem. It seems I can download okay as long as I don't try to do so from within the programme itself. The most bizarre thing of all though is that if I want to download spreads from within the programme there is no issue. I just can't download any decks for love love nor money. I even tried tried using internet explorer rather than Firefox (my default browser) but it wasn't that either.

Anyway, thanks again to both yourself and Shari for the help.
