Problem with Registration after Reinstall

Post by Arcana XV »

Hi,

I've been having problems registering the 8.5.1.2 version of the software after I had to uninstall and reinstalll the program. I've tried about 10 times now and keep getting this message in the little registration window that opens up at the start:
Unable to connect to web service. The error message was: The request failed with the error message:
--
<html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body>
<h2>Object moved to <a href="/pagenotfound.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/horizons/em.asmx">here</a>.</h2>
</body></html>

--.
I assume this has something to do with the recent problems I read about on the main page of the Orphalese website.

I have no decks on my software right now and obviously can't upload any into it either, it's like a deserted Tarot ghost town and completely useless. What's going on? Should I wait for the new version to be released and see if dowloading that fixes the problem?

Thanks for your help.

That error message started showing up July 31 for me also.

I don't think it's a problem with 8.5 as I've been running that version since its release, but the problem is probably serverside. There have been several changes on the server recently, and this likely just points to something that hasn't been fully updated yet.

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I hope it gets fixed soon. I can't use the program at all without the registration. It's quite annoying. :P

Also, why does it say "evaluation user" under my name? I've been a registered user for almost two years.

Well, the problem has been resolved now, but you will need to download the new version - 8.5.1.3 - to be able to register.

Hopefully all outstanding problems have been resolved now and this will be the last update to the program for some time.

What has been achieved with all this disruption is that the various remote parts of the program such as the registration procedures used by the program, the peer-to-peer server and the website now all run separately with their own IP addresses, so in future if I have to make code changes in one of these elements it won't disrupt the others.

The OTZ Forum here is on a different server altogether and the user database is comletely separate from the registration database used by the program. When Willowsheart and I set the forum here running we imported users from one db to another. There must have been a glitch with there for you to be showing with the wrong icon. I am sure Willowsheart can sort it for you. Are you logging in with your old OTZ nickname and as explained on the home page? If you have set up a guest user account here directly it will always show as evaluation user. People who register now receive log in details for a registered user account here.

Cheers,
Richard

Hi, I installed the new version of the program a few days ago, and I'm having exactly the same error message when I try to register, and I have only two decks. I tried to look for the download of version 8.5.1.3 which is mentioned on the front page, but when I click on the download page, I see only the version I already have. Please help!!!
Thanks!

Richard,

everything is working beautifully now with the new version. And don't worry about the "evaluation user" thing, I was just curious why it said that. :D

Stephanie,

if you download the latest version again you will see that it is indeed the newest one. It works perfect for me and I was finally able to register it. The one you downloaded a few days ago was the previous version. Try it again, you'll see it'll work fine. :D

I have installed 8.5.1.3 and could register on my Windows XP, but on the Vista notebook I get a message that the machine/configuration has been disabled. :(

Hi Martie,

That could be the case if you originally bought a single machine licence as opposed to a user licence. When you install on a new machine the old one becomes unlicensed and you can't register upgrades, although you can still use them as an unregistered user with the three deck limitation.

If this isn't the case let me know by sending me a private message on the Forum. If it is, you can upgrade from a single machine licence to a user licence (= 3 machines simultaneous use and upgrades) if you want to on the website.

Cheers

I'm thinking if you purchase a single license to use the software, you ought to be able to re-install that same software on a single computer without having to pay extra or have your software crippled. But that's just me... and all the other software I've bought from other vendors. Why is this different that you are required to pay extra to reinstall it? I don't think that's right.
