Hi everyone,
This is my first time on the new Forum and it seems good.
I noticed one thing which made me check out the Forum in my browser (Firefox). It was the fact that using the 'Forward' and 'Back' buttons on my mouse did not work in the Orphalese Browser, however back in Firefox and there was no problem.
I so much love my mouse's Forward and Back buttons that I'll probably always browse the Forum in Firefox from now on. I don't know if the Orphalese Browser can be upgraded to allow 'normal' web browsing behaviour? I know it's a cut down version of Internet Explorer. But perhaps other people who still have Internet Explorer on their machines don't have this problem? Any comments?
Regards Greg the Yeti
Note:- My machine is (apart from the compulsory install of the cut down Internet Explorer with Orphalese) as free of IE as it is possible to be. I use XPlite to remove all modules that can be removed and then everything else is either prevented from starting and/or banned from Internet Access, and that includes the pesky Windows Explorer, which is just IE in disguise! Windows in fact as much as possible without the 'Bill Gates Blues'!

Re: Forum in Orphalese vs Forum in Browser
I kinda like the idea of accessing outside of the program.. just have to remember to make a visit. I haven't found a way to get notified of new messages, although I think if I watch a post you do. It'll all work itself out I'm sure. I'm very excited about the new forum

Re: Forum in Orphalese vs Forum in Browser
Hi Everyone On This Thread,
I understand people preferring to use a normal web browser, especially now that the forum is available in this very browser friendly format. One of the reasons that the OTZ is uncomfortable to use, in my opinion, is the excessive time it takes to appear. This is mostly because when you try to connect you are automatically logged on to the database, which takes time (probably longer than it should). This forum loads in two steps so it seems quicker, and probably is quicker in absolute terms due to more optimized database design.
My plan for the existing OTZ is to scale the whole thing back so that really it only consists of the user's account page (the My Settings page), and a link to this forum. Everything else can be browser based. I think the way to do this will be to have the Orphalese Tarot Zone menu item on the main menu go to two sub-menus. One of these will be the main forum home page, and the other one will be the account page which requires log in. The account page has to be their because users with the older, three machine licence type still need to be able to go in and manage their computers. Apart from that there isn't really any need to log in.
One thing that I will need to change is the way that spreads can be saved. At the moment this is through clicking the save button in the program. Obviously the mechanism will need to be 100% browser based. Apart from that (and a similar thing with CardData.xml files) I can't see any problem.
Hope this helps clarify!
