Hi everyone!
I've upgraded to the latest version now, and thought I'd give the new deck share feature a go. I've uploaded 132 of my decks (A-H) but I can't see any of them... Can anyone else see them? Also, there don't seem to be any decks at all up for sharing... how come?
Am I doing something wrong?

Well don't know whether I need to figure something out, if the program isn't working or whether their has just never been anyone online when I have tried file sharing because it always just shows an empty screen, click on the arrows but no one there:(

Tried sharing decks...
Hi kwaw,
Are you using the most recent version?
Are you connected to the internet?
Did you allow Vista to access it (firewall)?
Did you click on the cirle arrows, and then on the binoculars?
There should always be something show up.

Well I double checked Vista firewall setting and orphalese is checked as an allowed program.
There is an option on the orphalese 'shared files' screen to check that the files you allow to share are available to others, I tried that and connection failed, so the file sharing part seems to be blocked. But beside giving orphalese permission I am not sure what else to do, does the file sharing part need a seperate permission somehow?

you need to allow deckservice.exe for the deck sharing.

Tried sharing decks...
Hi Guys,
I remember that I had some real headaches trying to get the program compatible with Vista (not least because I haven't installed it myself yet, so I was working on second hand information). The biggest problem was that Vista by default does not give normal users admin rights, and that normal users do not have access to certain parts of the system which were always available before, such as Program Files and certain bits of the Windows Registry. Ah, you say, but I can see the Program Files directory. Actually it turns out that every user has a different Program Files directory, and none of these are located on the root of C as you would expect. It is similar to what they did with My Documents. The real Program Files are now somewhere else, such as Documents And Settings/Jake/Vista Mapping/Program Files or whatever (it isn't this, but you get the idea). The programs that you install appear to be in the Program Files directory, but in fact they aren't. It is all do with the very clever mapping system that Vista uses. Other people might call it a bodge or a kludge, because the only reason for this is to make Vista backwards compatible with programs written for the earlier systems. I don't know if this has anything to do with the empty deck problem you had Kwaw, I forgot the Vista factor when I answered your post this morning.
The other aspect of this affects the registry. For the file sharing system to work the program must communicate with the DeckService - they both need to have access to a common registry setting. Because the DeckService starts up when Windows starts up, i.e. before the user logs in, it cannot get access to the User part of the registry, it has to use HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Vista therefore requires the program to run with elevated admin privileges. I am told that this means that a special shield icon appears on top of the Orphalese Icon on the Vista desktop, and that the user is prompted to grant these privileges when the program runs. It goes without saying that you must say yes to this if you want the program to be able to share decks.
I don't know if this gets you any further? I was only able to work this out with a lot of help from Dominatrix, who was one of the first Orphalese users to install Vista. We did get it working in the end, and I know that other Vista users share their decks in the Exchange, so I don't think that can be the problem per se.
Cheers,
Richard

Tried sharing decks...
I have given deckservice.exe admin rights and permission to connect in the firewall.
Tried again and this time the 'do test' for connectivity was successful, reporting that others can now see my shared files.
Still no other users shown on line to share, perhaps there is no one else on line to share at moment, will try again later.
