Can`t log on to P2P

Post by Starcat »

Hi,

some days ago I visited my friend living in another town and downloaded the newest Orphalese Tarot on his computer, only the trial. I then logged under my name into the new p2p-system and downloaded some decks.

Now I updated here at home my own registrated Orphalese Tarot but I can't log in to the p2p-system. It only runs searching for others but seems to find none. Everything else seems ok, there is no error message from Orphalese or my firewall.

Can it be that my name is now linked to the computer of my friend so that now I can't connect from my own computer? How can that be corrected?

Thanks for help in advance

Hi Starcat,

No, it won't be because of that. The peer-to-peer deck exchange behaves exactly the same whether you are registered or not, it's functioning has nothing to do with what computers you might have registered. I would guess it is because of some firewall issue. Something similar happened to another user and we went through every possible cause that had anything to do with the program directly, with no joy. In his case, the problem just seemed to fix itself after about a week, which was both a relief and a source of vexation, as you can imagine, because it got me no closer to discovering the cause of the problem. What operating system are you using, by the way?

Can`t log on to P2P

Hello Richard,

my computer says your e-mail-account seems to be full so I post my mail here.

I use ZoneAlarm 5.5 on Windows XP, and Orphalese Tarot as well as the Deck Service should have full access to the net. I have DSL and no W-Lan on my old computer.

By the way, my friend has the same technical combination.

Could it be that the problem is that I killed the old Orphalese on the computer of my friend and then installed the new and here on my own I just updated without deleting the old program first?

Thanks for helping me

Hello Richard,

I also found out that the Tarot Zone page on my computer behaves a bit different to that on the computer of my friend. While on his computer the page with the card layouts stays on 100 layouts when I put 100 into the appropriate field (which I find wonderful) on my computer I still have to change the number each time I call that page (*@!/!!!). Seems that the program didn't really update although now it shows Orphalese Tarot 8.1 when I start the program. So if it didn't update it can't connect to p2p as in version 7 that wasn't existent. So maybe it just shows the new program but doesn't function right.

Either the updating doesn't function or the file of the update I downloaded on my computer really somehow is different to the file of the full version with Tarot of Dreams which I downloaded on the computer of my friend.

Greetings

Hello Richard,

I deinstalled Orphalese Tarot on my computer and downloaded the version with Tarot of Dreams. I installed the program and it seemed to function ok. The program didn't even ask me to register again. I went into p2p and everything was ok. I downloaded a deck and just in the middle of it the download stopped and then I was thrown out of the p2p and since then I can't log in anymore. It is as it was: I can't log in to p2p.

What the hell sabotaged my computer???

Slightly nerved greetings

Hi Starcat,

As far as the Tarot Zone goes, the difference must be to do with something on your computer that differs from your friend's. This is because the Tarot Zone pages are all hosted on a web server, so they are the same for everyone. The site remembers your last search criteria by creating a cookie, which it reads on its next visit. I would guess the difference is in your settings for cookies in Internet Explorer, yours are probably more restrictive.

As far as the Deck Exchange goes, the first thing I noticed when I got home this evening and checked my email was the number of people who are having trouble with it. I tried searching for some decks myself and got the result that there were zero decks being shared by zero users. Is this the symptom you are getting when you say you can't log in? I rebooted the server application and it is working again now (at least for me) so it might be worth checking again.

Best,
Richard

Hi Richard

I seem to be having this problem too! I wanted to download the lovely custom desktop icons by Dominatrix for a project I'm working on .-) but I just can't seem to connect at all *sighs* I've never had a problem with it before so I'm hoping it's just a small glitch.

Cheers

Hi Van,

I just managed to log in OK, at about 13.15 GMT. Are you still getting the problem? What exactly happens when you try to connect?

Cheers,
Richard

I just can't seem to connect at all . . deck exchange opens but when I try to connect (I do see that it tries) I get no users, no decks. Maybe I'll try rebooting my comp and see if it still does it. I'll let you know how I get on

Thanks Richard
