Greetings all,
I just registered the program and am wondering what to do next. I'd like to add some more decks and spreads along with adding meanings to all my decks. I'm just unsure of where to get started. I'd also like to make sure that I have the most recent version of the program. If anyone has time to help this newbie, I'd sure appreciate it.

Hi Autumn Moonsong, Welcome!
You can download spreads and decks that are freely available here, and through the File Exchange accessed through the program navigation. You can also scan your own decks and add them to Orphalese. You might want to play around in the program a bit and get used to it as well as read some of the help & articles.

One of the key things for someone new to the program to understand is how the deck is numbered and to make sure ALL your decks are based on the same numbering. Cards start at 0 and go up from there Majors, Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. The reason it's important for all your cards to be number the same is that you can open any saved reading with any deck you have, but it will only work correctly if your cards are numbered the same. I learned this the hard way .-)
Each deck has two different places for notes and each place has two types of notes. LWB notes and personal notes both with upright and reversed meanings. You can uses these text boxes however you want.
To check for the latest version. Right-click your deck select About and check the Version Information. It should be: 7.6.1.3 you can download an updated version here at the site under Download I'd suggest you stick with the Upgrade and not the Beta. Beta's are not without bugs .-)
If you need to upgrade, uninstall your current version and then run the upgrade, you will not lose any decks, readings, or spreads you currently have.
It does take a bit to get used to using the Right-click on the Deck to find all the navigation, but once your used to it, it's very fast. There are also shortcut keys that make it even faster. F6 for the notes box, F5 for spreads, F3 for readings ect.
Feel free to post any specific questions, or if I've said something that was confusing let me know. I think the above should get you started. I'm sure you'll soon find what a great program it is, and Richard (the author & programmer) is very helpful, and wants to hear if you're having trouble. There are quite a few of us that are around and if anyone here can help they will too :o)

As far as the latest version goes, you can find out which you have by looking at the about box (select About off the main menu). The latest released version is 7.6.1. You will also hear people talking about the beta, which means the latest pre-release of the next version, which will be 7.6.2. I wouldn't worry about this for the time being though, when the beta is ready for release it will be announced in here, and you will also see an alert each time you visit these pages via the program, telling you that there is a newer version (this takes the form of the Download button at the bottom of the screen flashing at you).
I hope you have fun playing with the program, and please feel free to ask here in the Forum about anything which doesn't seem to make sense. There may well be one or two things that don't because the help manual is not 100 up-to-date :)

Thank you for the replies and answers. You both helped me a great deal. I've been testing the program for a few months now with the free version and registered today. I really love this program! It's awesome.
Somethings I am trying to figure out now are:
1. How do I create my own spread and save it to file to be called up by the program?
2. What format does this take when sent through email? Can I see what it looks like before I send it?

Did you find the answers yet? Basically there are three ways you can send a reading to someone using the program. The best way is to generate a .reading file using the Reading Wizard which you email to the other person. This is the format to use when you know the recipient has the Orphalese Tarot installed. When they open the reading the cards are laid out for them, using the same deck if they have it, and your comments on each card appear as green pop-up windows when they move the mouse over them.
The second way, also using the Reading Wizard, is to prepare an RTF document (such as could be opened by Word) and embed the images in it. The third way is to take a screen shot using the Screen Image tool off the main menu and send that directly to the recipient as an image file. Obviously with the last two methods you could send a message to anyone, but the first one relies on them having the program.
