First of all, THANK YOU, Richard, for the newest release 7.4 that takes care of the problem with fading reading notes! You're grrreeeaaaat (imagine Tony the Tiger).
I have been having a problem that I wanted to ask you about, though. Often (but not all the time) when I hit the Orphalese icon on my Start Menu, instead of starting the program, Orphalese starts to re-install itself. So, if you've noticed my name coming up all the time requesting registration, that's why. I don't know if this is a bug or a Windows problem (come to think of it, I think it's happened to other programs as well). Maybe my icon isn't pointing to the right file??
It did create a problem when I was at work the other day. It went to install, but I didn't have an internet connection, so I had the unregistered version, which only allows three decks. But it couldn't find the decks. When I tried to link it with the Pack folder, it took me several tries before it worked. And then it only linked to one of the subfolders rather than the main one. So when I went home and was able to register, I couldn't re-link to the Packs folder. I had to uninstall and then reinstall again, but only after wiping away any evidence of Orphalese on my C: drive.
Ideas?
Blessings,
Karen

Re: Question about Opening the Program
Hi Karen,
Wow - praise indeed!! Better keep those Tony impersonations down though because you are giving me the munchies!
It sounds like the shortcut is left over from a previous installation of the program (maybe prior to version 6?). If you delete it and make another you should be OK.
The problem (actually it is a behaviour of Windows Installer) is that when you move or delete a file that is part of a Windows installation the program tries to automatically repair itself by replacing the file. This used to appy to the default decks that are installed with the program, until about version 6 when I learned how to stop this happening, at least as far as the decks are concerned.
It only used to happen though with the shortcut created by the installation routine itself. If you delete that shortcut and make another you should be OK.
Cheers
Richard

Re: Re: Question about Opening the Program
Richard,
Thank you for the explanation! It made a lot of sense, and it definitely worked. I haven't had any problems since.
Blessings,
Karen
