Subject: Registration Problem with Version 11 Beta
Hello,
I’m a licensed Orphalese Tarot user on Version 10 and recently installed Version 11 Beta on my laptop. I am testing it out ver 11 on another computer until it is ready. I am starting to use your program much more as I develop my tarot reading skills. I recently uploaded the Osho Zen Tarot deck on the decks exchange (using the ver 10 on my desktop PC) with very clear images and notes from the mobile application that Osho International offers for mobile devices. I enjoy using your program and want to work with the new version to see what improvements their are. But I am having some difficulty.

When I register in Version 11, it says “Registration complete,” but after I close and reopen the program, it asks me to register again. Also, the deck exchange feature will not work — it says I cannot download my decks (such as my Osho Zen Tarot deck).
Version 10 on my other PC works fine with this license code. Could you please let me know if Version 11 Beta requires a different registration process or if my license needs to be linked for beta testing?

Love the program! I am using ver 11 beta on my Laptop so it is separate from Ver 10 that I use on my desktop.
One issue I noticed on ver 11 is that the "Compare Cards" feature has a display issue. I really like this feature to compare other tarot cards and see what differences there are. It is a great training tool as well. The control bar runs across the middle of the screen over the cards instead of at the bottom of the screen. I am attaching a screen print to show the issue.
Another issue that is on ver 11 and ver 10 is when the notes pop up in the Compare Cards window, they will not scroll. I like to look at the definitions and compare between decks, but it does not allow me to scroll through the entire card notes if it is longer than the window size.
Also, if it helps, I would like to donate some funds to help with this project. I plan to use this program more and would like to help its development. Let me know if there is a link for donations or if there is another cash transfer method that could be used for donations.

What version do you have. I am using 11.0.0.5, and it seems to be working, and I have arrows to move through the cards.
As for the notes, it's scrolling with my mouse wheel. I was also able to move down the notes with my down arrow.

I have tried to reproduce this problem with the compare cards form and I don't see it like that either, so I can only repeat WebWeaver's question as to what version you are using. I just noticed that the About form does not give that information anymore, but until I fix that you can read off the version in the top left of the control ribbon. 11.0.0.5 is the latest version so if you are using that we will have to think about things that might be different with your screen setup that might make that happen. Likewise the scrolling should work in the latest version. I know that I spent a while trying to get that right because when the number of cards displaying is more than the window can contain there is a scrollbar for moving up and down the card display too, and it was quite tricky to get the mouse wheel to control the right thing: the pop-up notes when they are visible, but the displacement up and down the list at other times.
I used to have a link to donate on the website. I can't quite remember why I removed it but it was probably to do with some change in the Paypal API and I never got around to re-configuring it. It is very encouraging that you like the program so much that you want show your appreciation that way. I will try and get around to putting that button back, but I don't want to hold out any false promises. It is not lack of funds that is delaying the development of the program, more just the time constraints of still working full-time while having taken on other projects and commitments. Thank you both for your replies. I appreciate your getting back to me. The good news is ver 11 works better on my laptop now but has a small glitch. Unfortunately, ver 11 does not work well on my PC. It is odd. I have a Cyberpower Desktop PC on Windows 11 and it can run a VR headset. And my laptop is an ACER Nitro also beefed up to run a VR headset. (I have a Quest 3 that I am trying to sue a direct link to both PCs, but have not been utilizing it lately. It is easier to use the headset in wireless mode, and I have not had the time to dedicate to using my Quest 3)
I understand Richard is busy with his full time job. I am grateful he has some time to keep this project going. Not just the program, but the community forum, the deck/spread/notes exchange and working on a new version. I wish I was more adept at computers and perhaps I could diagnose my own issues better. But for now, I will do my best. If there is ever a way to better support this project, I hope I can. Financial support is about the best I can do. I know some Japanese but not enough to translate well. And I am not a programmer. I keep hoping there will be a better tarot program to use and Orphalese is the best for the PC that I have found. I looked at Visual Tarot but the reviews were not that great and the prices is prohibitive and does not seem to have better features. The only comparable program I have found is on my iPad and Android called Tarot and Numerology by Phuture Me. I am very happy with my iPad app and have uploaded the OSHO Zen Tarot deck and my notes. It is a challenge to install a custom deck, but it works and the interface is easy to understand. There is no deck exchange, but it is customizable. It is only for mobile devices. Therefore, I use Orphalese on my PC and Tarot and Numerology on my iPad.

However, one issue that remains is when I try to close ver 11, it will not do it properly. So when I reopen the program I get a pop up that says, "Orphalese Tarot is already running!". So I have to "End Task" with the task manager or restart the computer. That is an inconvenience. But the control bar and scrolling notes is no longer a problem. I hate to say, but now I have the same issue with ver 10 on my desktop. There remains a background operation running in Orphalese. It no longer asks me (ver 10 or ver 11), "Do you want to exit". It used to.
I would like to say that is all, but when I install ver 11 on my desktop (and I first uninstall ver 10), I do not get the new control bar. I do have the option clicked. So while I can use ver 11 on my laptop, it is problematic on my desktop.

On your PC you might want to make sure your .net 4.8 is updated by seeing if you have any updates to run. Even if you have v6 or v8 you still have to have 4.8 to run 11. You should have had to update to install it, but I did think of this as I've see it come up for other when installing, and some might think they don't need the v4.8 and uninstall it. I have v6 and v8 for other programs, and almost did that when I saw an update for version 4 come up in my windows update.
For the issues with the program not closing, you might want to make sure you don't have it closing to the system tray vs quitting the program.
Options > Program > Minimize to system tray when closing should be unticked for the exit program or closing via the X
If it is closing to the system try you just need to right-click on the Orphalese icon and select quit.

I just uploaded a new version, 10.0.0.6. Hopefully this will fix the issue of the strangely placed controls on David's desktop computer. Although I haven't been able to reproduce the problem, I have placed the controls in question in a kind of stacked control which should force them to be one on top of the other, with the control panel at the bottom as intended. You will have to tell me whether this fixes the problem or causes something else to go wrong. I am guessing the scrolling of the notes is related to the other problem in some way so hopefully fixing one issue will fix the other.
I think that with this release of the beta the program will stop recognizing existing log-on details, so when you run it the unlock screen will appear. I am changing the way unlock codes are generated in version 11, and the new unlock code will be a 36 character alphanumeric string. You can get this by using the "Lost unlock code" feature on the registration menu in either version of the program. For the time being the email it generates will contain both unlock codes, your previous version 10 one and the new one.
