OT and the Deck Exchange

Post by Cowhead »

Apologies for checking in so late here. I just want to add my three-bits worth concerning Orphalese Tarot and the Deck Exchange. Nothing original, I'm afraid. You all have said most of this already, and much better.

1) Orphalese Tarot is a wonderful tool, with or without the Deck Exchange. Like Aurora, I've always considered the exchange to be a nice add-on, but it is not the purpose of OT.

2) Since the Deck Exchange is not the purpose of the program, I trust Richard to make the best decisions about it. I will happily continue to use and support Orphalese Tarot, even if the deck exchange were to disappear forever.

3) I must say that, like so many other people, my exposure to decks through Orphalese has prompted me to *purchase* many Tarot decks that I would not have considered otherwise. I know advertising is difficult and expensive. When was the last time you saw a paid advertisement for a Tarot deck that made you really want to buy it? Can't remember? Me neither... In my opinion the deck exchange was, by far, the most effective advertising for Tarot decks that I have ever seen. So, I strongly suspect that shutting down the exchange would have the net effect of *reducing* the sales of physical decks. Is this what happens when you let lawyers make marketing decisions?
