A little while ago I deicded to "sort out" all the Orphalese decks that I have. Some are my own and some downloaded from the P2P share. I made a few changes to the names of Decks and to some of the notes.
1) Wherever there was ALL CAPS, I changed it to regular "Title Case", with the Start of each major word in Caps. This is so much easier to read! "ALL CAPS" is shouting and it's rude! Do an experiment for me. Take any of your documents and using MS Word's case conversion function, change it to ALL CAPS and just try reading it. Please note if it's easier and if it's faster to read....
2) Wherever there was:-
a) "The"
b) "a"
c) "Tarot"
d) "Oracle"
I deleted it - unless it was an essential part of the name. It also allows Alphabetical sorting to do a much better job. No more having to look in several places to find it!
3) I removed all other "Designations" from other people. Mostly they didn't seem to be worth having.
4) I added the following "Designations" to give an indication about the Card Notes:-
a) ACD - The Actual Notes of this Deck
b) UCD - Unknown whether these notes are actually from this Deck OR the Notes are just a few key words that could fit almost ANY Deck - Universal!
c) SCD - Substitute Card Notes. These notes are from another Deck
(I've used CD rather than CN, since the files in the Deck's Folder is called CardData.xml)
I've given priority to Decks that have their own Notes, and have removed a lot that were just the graphics.
Lastly - my rant for the day - why do some sharers insist on putting the Notes from the Ryder Waite Deck for ALL their decks, even when it isn't particularly appropriate. Thank goodness that not all decks are Ryder Waite Clones and have a little individuality!!!
For me the "Pretty Pretty" Ryder Waite approach is a clear diversion from the more gritty reality of, for example, the Marseille Deck.
So - what do YOU think?

Re: Names and Notes of Decks
If you have shared a deck on the P2P share, is there anyway of changing the name of that deck other than taking it off and then sharing under the new name?
If you make a change to a deck's graphics or notes, put in a background or whatever, you can simply "Update". It would be nice if this extended to the actual name of the deck itself.
It should be possible for the P2P service to identify the deck because of the DeckShareData.xml?

Re: Names and Notes of Decks
Hi Greg,
just replying to the part where you spoke about sorting and renaming your decks.
I must admit, I went nutso when the deck sharing function was first introduced and ended up with some that I will just never use. However, having said that, it's always good using the Compare Cards feature to see the different styles.
I renamed a lot of my deck titles but also, created sub-folders in the Packs folder. Mainly because I wanted to separate the Oracles from the Tarots (and Runes etc) and also because I wanted a folder with the decks that I physically own. I even created a folder called the Morgue (for decks that I didn't think I would use but kept anyway).
I then added a "- N" at the end of any title that had an accompanying notes file.
I agree with your comment re pasting the Rider Waite descriptions against any deck when it's out of context for the style......but also accept that people learning might find it useful. (Hmm.....did I do that when I was learning? Were they decks I uploaded?)
Cheers
