Unable to save reading and other issues

Post by Moonsparkle »

Hi. I hadn't used Orphalese for several months and used the latest download to reinstall the program on my computer. Now I'm having issues and not sure what the source might be.

If I use a spread to do a reading and then try and use the reading wizard, I get a message that "there are no cards out of the deck, so a reading cannot be created. Thing is, this message is showing up right on top of the cards that are out of the deck!

I looked at my machines to see if it was matter of the wrong machine activated, but I can't tell. It might be the case, but there doesn't seem to be anything I can activate or deactivate in the My Machines window. There are four machines listed with one activated, which may or may not be my current machine. My current machine doesn't have a name that I can tell.

I'm ok with going back to an older version if available for now. I have a winXP machine, and maybe the program doesn't support that so well anymore.

Any ideas appreciated. I do occasionally want to save a reading, at least temporarily, so I'd really like to get that feature working on my system again.

I think I solved one of the issues. Once I reregistered the program, I was able to save readings. I'm constantly having to repair and cobble together machines, so my working computer changes periodically. I forgot about that as a possible issue.

I still get error messages if I try to access any decks to download, but that isn't that big a deal. I tend to mostly just use decks I have physical copies of, and those are already saved.

Hi Moonsparkle,

First of all sorry I missed this post for so long, for some reason I didn't get the normal email alert when there are new posts on the Forum.

First of all re the issue with saving the reading, it is part of the normal working of the program and shouldn't have anything to do with registration. I haven't been able to reproduce the error, even after deleting my own registration information. The only thing that occurs to me is maybe the cards that were out belonged to a second deck (either because you had launched a second deck or gathered the cards into a new deck)? It could well be that the program only checks to see if there are any cards out in the principal deck - the one with the full set of menu items.

Regarding the downloading of decks, there shouldn't be any errors there unless you did finally go back to an old version of the program. If you are getting an error with the current version I would be very grateful if you could send me the wording of the error or a screen capture etc. Thanks!

Cheers

Regarding saving a reading. I thought I'd taken a screenshot but I can't find it. I'd saved readings plenty of times in the past without trouble. I was getting the error message about no cards out, when I was looking at the original cards. Maybe there's an issue, but I haven't seen any problem since I posted. I'm fine with that!

As for the downloading of cards - these screen shots show the issue. No matter how I try to access the download, I get the same problem. I don't have issue's with viewing or downloading anything else, so I can't figure out with that issue might be. I do have an older WinXPpro system. Following are some screenshots. I think ImageShack reduced them since I forgot to change the setting, so let me know if you need bigger versions in order to view.

All in all, this isn't a big deal for me, since I've already got all the decks I physically own and then some. Still, it was fun taking a look now and then for something that captured my interest. :-)

Thanks,
Gwen

Hi Gwen, That helps a lot. I can see there was a file missing from the upgrade so I have re-uploaded it.

If you upgrade by following this link http://www.orphalese.net/downloads/clic ... pgrade.exe it should install the file you were missing and after that it should work.

This is the very quick and easy upgrade which only requires a couple of clicks. If it doesn't work after that it sounds like you would have to uninstall and reinstall the latest version of the program from scratch, but the first way should work.

Thanks! That seems to have done the trick. I was able to access and download a deck as a test. (H)
