Second Cut of 7.2 Beta

Post by Programmer »

I just uploaded the second cut of the 7.2 beta. This includes the ability to upload and download decks using the client side deck exchange browser.

The multiple upload facility as requested by drfrog is in place in a kind of limited way. You can select multiple decks and press upload. The upload form appears and lets you browse for a target directory. Press save to download each deck. Each time you press save the button is disabled untill the download is complete, then you just press again for the next one. There is a technical reason for this, i.e. it was problematic to have a fully automated serial download. I haven't bothered trying to find a way around this though because I think it is desirable to stop people selecting every deck in the exchange, pressing download and then going into town to do their shopping. It would place too much strain on the server.

I have also extended the scope of the form to include the downloading of non-tarot decks, i.e. the other file exchange. This has implications for Dominatrix, Rhutobello and anyone else who has been using the original beta. A new field has been added to the client side database (IsDeck). This means that your existing databases would be incompatible, but I have built in a workaround for you:

1) Get the new beta.

2) Open the Exchange form. This will take longer the first time because the program keeps looking for the missing field and not finding it.

3) Press on the Options (cog wheels) button.

4) Follow the instructions to add the extra field and then download all the Other Files.

Everyone who is taking up the beta version as of today can ignore this, it just affects the two or three people who were testing it last week.

Cheers

Well got to play a bit today. I haven't run into any issue :o) I was able to upload a new deck in the Exchange, I did have to go to the old Deck Exchange to upload a sample, but in the new exchange you can sample without an upload, so that should? be an issue at some point.

I do have a suggestion. Could you make a double click on a deck name open the comments? I scrolled for decks with comments and it would make it a bit easier to read if you could just scroll and double click when you find one...

I'm not sure yet how I like the new exchange, because it is different... the look and feel is a tad bit odd, but if it makes it easier and faster, then I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Hi Rhutobello, yep I did find them.. I just thought as long as a double click on the name isn't doing anything.. it would make it easier to read the comments .-)
