Hey Richard!
Just wondering if there will ever be the option to allow placement of perpendicular cards in a spread, or if the .NET engine makes it difficult. I don't think orientation of cards needs to be a massive add-on allowing minute angle adjustments, but the option of a 90 degree rotation in a spread would allow for a lot of flexibility in design (and prove useful for the Celtic Cross and other chestnuts that make use of a crossing card).
Having said that, I have a distinct memory of reading this request in the Forum, so apologies if this is redundant, and also remember that there was some inherent snag with the software architecture that made it a headache... Nevertheless, in case I've fabricated/hallucinated all that, I thought it was worth asking.
Many thanks for your amazing work on all that is Orphalese.
Shawn
P.S. Gibran is actually a distant ancestor of mine, so color me double chuffed that your software is so terrific.

Re: Perpendicular card positions for spreads
Hi Shawn,
Ah yes, this old chestnut! Actually I think the problem is more with designing the user interface than with anything inherent in the software architecture. The mouse and keyboard only really allow a limited set of posibilities. Dragging things around the screen is intuitive because that is the way windows normally behave, but dragging something on to its side is not so obvious. I think you would need to have special drag handles appear over the corners of the card or something, I can see how it might be done, but I am not sure it wouldn't just confuse most casual users of the program. I know you were actually talking about a lite version of this (just the 90 degree position) but part of me also thinks it is not really worth the candle unless you go all the way. Some decks want you to lay out the cards in a circle etc, I could see that would be the next step. I am sure it will happen one day, but perhaps not in the next year or two, there are other things I want to bring in first.
And I am chuffed to know you are enjoying the program!
Richard
