Alphabetizing Our Spread section?

Post by Barb »

Richard,
Is there a way to alphabetize our spread section, the ones we have created or downloaded? No matter how they are when I view them, when I look at mine through OPT (not just looking into the file), they are all messed up.

Any suggestions?

Hi Barbara, I'm not Richard .-) but mine are alphabetized so it made me wonder what version of Windows your on and the version of OPT your using. Your talking about when you right click>My Spreads right?

Hi Shari!
I am running Windows 98 and I have the new Beta 7. Its always been like that, though. Even when I had the previous updates. I right click on my deck, and my spreads are not alphabetized. Now if I open up my spread file, they are perfectly arranged.

Do you think it has to do with an xml that isn't in it? I looked into the Packs file and was reading a packxml that kept the names, backgrounds, etc, information. Does your spread have an xml in it to do this function/arrangeing?

Thanks Lady!

Well I'm betting it has something to do with Win98. I don't have my 98 puter running right now to double check... but I bet that's it. There is a file with the extension of xsd in the program folder. That might have something to do with it. I think your gonna have ta wait for Richard to get back for help with this one .-)

Hi Barbara,

I think this is related to the bug that has been pointed out by several people, namely with sorting the cards in the deck. Both the sorting of the cards and the sorting of the menu items are done by the same method, which is failing in the beta. However, because on most machines the spreads naturally appear in the right order I don't think anyone else has noticed it. For example on my machine, like Webweaver's, the spreads are in the right order. I am not really sure why they would be out of order for you, but one possibility is that it has something to do with the order they are in when you look at them in Windows Explorer. For example, if you had them ordered by date modified instead of alphabetic order then Windows might be recording that preference against the contents of the directory, and that might influence the order that the program reads them in. I say might be because really this is a complete guess! Anyway, I am going to upload the next cut of the beta later on today which includes the fix of those sorting bugs.

Cheers
Richard
