XML File/changing...

Post by Barb »

Can someone direct me to where I can find out how to edit an XML file? I am redoing the PsyCards and its reading two cards I removed, for easier reading.

Thank you,

Hi Barbara,

If you just want to edit the popup notes you can use the card notes form, of course, so I am trying to work out why you need to edit the XML directly.

Reading between the lines I take it you have removed two cards, then gone through and renumbered the rest of them so there are no gaps, and now they all show the wrong popup notes. Is this right?

If so, you could edit the CardData.xml file in notepad (right-click and choose Open With), or using any HTML editor. You could then renumber each record so the index matched the right card. You could not just delete the records for the two cards you removed - then indexes would have to match.

If this doesn't help, could you explain the problem in a bit more detail?

Cheers
Richard

Thanks Richard. I will use notepad. That was the info I couldn't remember!

I already have the card notes corrected. I just have to remove those two card pop-ups from the XML, because they were showing as an error when I opened the program and used the deck.

Thanks again!
Barbara
