Bug, Bugs, BUGS

Hi Richard,

This may or may not be related to some of the other problems being reported, I don't know.

I just DLed the new version 6.1. It opens fine, but I get the error message below if I click on Deck Management, and if I click Continue the window opens with no decks listed at all. If I go to Spread Management, I also get the same error, and if I press Continue I can't do anything in Spreads File Management because there's no list of spreads in the Spreads folder. Clicking Refresh in either case only brings up the error message again, and an unremitting hourglass on the cursor. Fortunately, clicking Close works to release the cursor, returning to the normal desktop pack. I can just use Windows Explorer to move decks and spreads about from folder to folder, but it would be nicer to be able to do it in the program like before. Deck editing seems to work, but clicking Finish brings up the error message.

The Card Notes box comes up blank , empty of text, unless I also happen to have Pop-up Notes checked, which is something I only do sometimes.

Worst of all, there's no response whatsoever if I click on my beloved Compare Cards feature. No error message, no change, as if I hadn’t clicked on it. This is almost my favorite feature in the whole program (not counting substitution of decks in any given reading), and now it’s unavailable to me. HELP!!!!

Another *very* minor glitch: Sort Cards Ascending and Descending are reversed in Free Selection. It’s fine for regular pack use, with the Fool on top, but in Free Selection that puts the Fool on the right and the King of Pentacles on the extreme left. Maybe I’m just being picky about that.

Something else that existed before but I kept forgetting to bring up: a few of my decks are perceived by the program to be empty folders rather than decks. Fortunately for me they’re not decks I use a lot, so I haven’t bothered to write you about them until now. Still, it seems this needs to be fixed. There’s only 6 decks affected out of about 200, but eventually I’d like complete access.

Gratefully yours,
Gisela

Error Message:

An unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will shut down imediately.

Could not find a part of the path D:Program FilesOrphaleseOrphalese TarotPacks My take on this is that somehow a has gone missing between Tarot and Packs, but I don’t know how to restore it.
Similarly, there’s a missing in the path D:Program FilesOrphaleseOrphalese TarotSpreads for the error that comes up for Spread Management.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Hi Gisela,

My take on that message was exactly the same as yours and sure enough it turns out to be the cause of the problem. What I don't really understand is why this hasn't affected more people. As far as I can work out anyone who hadn't specifiied a custom decks folder directly off a drive letter should have been getting the same error. Actually I have had a bug report from someone who newly downloaded the program and it was definitely about the same issue, so maybe it is simply that not many people have downloaded the upgrade yet.

Anyway, I will compile and upload a fixed version tomorrow - it should definitely be available by this time tomorrow evening. In the mean time you can almost certainly work around the problem by creating a decks drive directly on your D: drive and moving all your decks there.

Cheers,

Richard

Thanx so much, Richard!

And, don't worry about those errant decks that my program thinks are folders -- I figured out what's wrong, and it has nothing to do with bugs.

It turns out that these particular decks are ones with odd numbering schemes that do not start with 00. So I'll renumber them like a good little dooby and there will no longer be any problem at all with them.

Thanx again,
Gisela

Thank you Richard for fixing Compare Cards and Deck Management features with version 6.1.2!

Now, there's still Spread Management to fix, but I guess it should be easy since it didn't take long for you to get the others worked out. You are so good!!!

Hugs
Gisela
