Aloha, Richard! Here's My Two Cents ...

Post by Dormouse »

Richard, your wonderful program has enriched my life immeasurably. What a beautiful gift you have given to the world! The more you work at it improving it, the more you inspire me to contribute to the Deck Exchange.

My suggestions for improving the program relate entirely to uploading. Improvements I would like to see:

1) The addition of sound: a positive sound for successful upload and a negative sound for errors. (I multi-task at my computer, so such sounds would be helpful. Sound features should be optional, of course, since some uploaders might not want to hear them.)

2) Place the 6 MB limit info on the Upload menu, so that the uploader sees it before clicking to upload the file. (This would be particularly helpful to new uploaders.)

3) Make it easier for uploaders to fix our mistakes, e.g.:

a) Yesterday I accidentally added a note twice and couldn't figure out how to remove the second one (still can't).

b) Spelling errors in titles can make searching for a deck very difficult (especially for those who speak a different language). Can you give us a way to correct errors in titles after the fact, without us having to re-upload the whole deck?

c) I know there's a means for re-uploading a deck. But might there also be situations where an uploader needs to yank his or her deck from the Deck Exchange? (Maybe this is possible now, I don't know.)

d) I see that people are leaving notes complaining that cards are missing, or are incorrectly numbered. If the uploader doesn't revisit his or her upload (or read the Forum) s/he may not become aware of these problems. Would some reminder or checklist text on the Upload page help to reduce the number of such incidents? (Did you remember to: - Number the cards correctly? - Ensure that all cards are included? Etc.)

That's it for me. Mahalo again for all you have done for us!
