To Whom: I am getting reading to scan and make notes for the Shapeshifter Tarot. The book says,
majors, Wands (Air)?, Swords (Fire)?, Cups (Water), Pentacles (Earth).

Don if your out there, some insite as to how you would scan and put in notes.

would you go with the fire, water, air, earth?? (swords, cups, wands, pentacles)
or would you go with air, water, fire, earth (wands, cups,swords, pentacles)

This is really confusing to me now.

Not all decks follow the Golden Dawn association and some people actually think that the printed association are a blind. Standard is:
Wands=Fire
Cups=Water
Swords=Air
Pentacles=Earth

As for the numbering follow the suits and not the elements. Yes it is a bit different however the meanings tend toward being very similar. I would type the notes as the lwb does it. Don't put the Swords/Fire meaning in the Wand/Air card. So in the case of that deck the elements would be numbered:
Air:Water:Fire:Earth for
Wands:Cups:Swords:Pentacles

I hope that made sense. If someone felt they wanted the elements to be the order they can always renumber the deck. I think most people would want to look at the matching card eg. 3 of Swords from the RWS to 3 of Swords from the Shape Shifter vs 3 of Swords from the RWS to the 3 of Wands from the Shape Shifter.
