Orphalese Tarot Zone Community Forum

I have a question regarding the celestial tarot, I am working on the notes for this deck and found that the suit of cups comes in after the wands, now in the LWB they are wands, pentacles, swords and cups. I always thought that in order or order up the deck it should be in the order of this LWB. Am I wrong? Does it matter? I'm so confussed. :)

Hi Cisco342,
The order a deck goes in is a personal decision. You can follow the author, or your own sense of how it should be ordered. For me personally I like ordering them: Cups, Wands, Pentacles, Swords. So when I'm physically ordering a deck that's how I may do it. For Orphalese the standard order is: Wands, Cups, Swords, Pentacles. To make the decks easier to use from a comparative sense and having a standard that is how the decks should be uploaded or they should indicate non-standard numbering. However that's a should not a must and each of us are responsible for what goes into our own computers and if you don't like how something is numbered it's very easy to fix that. I used to renumber all the decks I downloaded to fit my numbering. Now I go by the Orphalese order in Orphalese and by whay takes my fancy in the physical world. :o)

I appreciate your imput and have decided to leave it as is and just work on the notes. I have most of them typed and should not take long to put them in. I like the wands, cups, swords, pentacles, also, I just thought I had to follow the book. :) Leave it to me. I will not rock the boat. Thanks Again

The most common order of the suits is.

Wands
Cups
Swords
Pentacles

This matches the 4 Worlds of the Kabballah and the oder they are put in.

Wands: Atziluth, archetypal world. spirit. lion. Leo. fire
Cups: Briah, creative world. soul. eagle. Scorpio. water
Swords: Yetsirah, formative world. astral body. man. Aquarius. air
Pentacles: Assiah: material world, material body. bull. Taurus. earth

Shari [Web Weaver] has always done things ... differently, [g]. And I'm sure glad she fixed the order of the Druid Craft deck. Switching from one deck to another gave you the wrong card/cards if you were using the DCD or moving off of it to another deck. But because there are 88 cards in the Steele Wizard tarot this deck will be off too. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about it.

Thank you Don, I appreciate the explaination. Sometimes aquireing the reason helps put things into perspective. Now that I understand the order helps to see things more clearly. I have always ordered up the decks, that I have, in order of the lwb. Now I will know better. Thanks again. I love your website and have always admired your Intellect. Wish I had half of your knowledge. :) I am working on it though.
