I just had a thought. Are you using some kind of Active Desktop setting on the machine that has the problem?

If you are thinking about various programs that will change the look of Windows I have to say no. They are consuming a lot of ram. I hacked the dll instead and do not need a program running to have a theme running. The one I have is only changing boxes and color and so. It is not slowing down the system. One major flaw in this system is the Graphics card does not have its own ram and takes a little out, but not too much. On the new one it has its own ram.

I doubt if that could be the problem since I have no problems with my graphics programs being slow, quite the opposite.

Still rummaging round my machine to find the cause….
