No more bugs!!!

Hi Richard

I tried to upgrade the .NET Framework on my system, which meant that it does not work at all now and I can't get permission to reinstall the 1.1 version again so I guess it solves all the bugs since I can't run the program anymore. I think the biggest flaw with the Orphalese Tarot is that it is dependent on something as troublesome, not to mention tiresome as Microsoft .NET Framework.

I followed every procedure and installed the windows Installer version 3.1 prior to the .NET Framework, (even the name aggravates me at the moment).

I am not formatting my system to get it working again, since I do not have the desire to use a lot of time reinstalling everything. Hope you have a solution to this strange Microsoft problem.

Cheers

Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Sorry to hear you are having such hassles with the *ahem* (name deleted). Just to clarify the situation, what versions of the *cough* do you have on the machine in question at the moment? Could you let me know exactly what error you get when you try to run the program, or is it just that nothing happens?

Cheers
Richard

Ha ha :-)

The setup on ?#¤framwork cannot be run and I have to contact the provider, but hold on I just were granted permission to install the Windows installer 3.1 again. I will try to install the (and I dare to write the name) .NET Framework 2.0

Hi again

The 2.0 package is being installed now after removal of the folders and files relating to the .NET Framework.

Please bear with my outbursts, but these days computer problems can really blow all my fuses and steam comes out of my ears and I turn read like a hysteric fire breathing dragon, threatening to throe the #&” thing out the window, but of course I don not let my temper get away with me. The cause was a portable machine I was supposed to fix last weekend. It was sold with out the support CD/DVD’s and I spend three days making it run again and seached on the net day and night for any drivers that would be compatible with the hardware. Just to clarify the reason for my outburst, but .NET Framework can still be annoying .-)

Cheers

Thomas

Hi Richard

Well It did not work and I wonder if it is relying on the 1.1 package.

Hi Thomas,

You should hear my outbursts . )

You ought to be able to switch between which version of .NET is in use by editing the file tarot.exe.config in the application folder. It would be interesting to see if it works with one version and not another. In the config file you will find something like this:

&gt.supportedRuntime version=v2.0.50727/&lt.
&gt.supportedRuntime version=v1.1.4322/&lt.
&gt.supportedRuntime version=v1.0.3705/&lt.

These are the versions that the program will look for, in order from top down.

Did you do a reboot after deleting the previous version of .NET? The system might be a bit confused because manually deleting those files isn't really ideal - you can remove them with Add/Remove programs. Also, it is quite possible to have multiple versions installed at the same time. The use of config files like the one I mentioned allows programs to select a preferred version from any that might be available.

Cheers
Richard

ok Richard

I will try. I am not allowed to remove it through the add/remove programs so even if I know it is not ideal I do not seem to have any options. Can version 2 run without version 1? (version 1 is also number 1 on my despiseable software list now) laughs

Yes, all the versions should be completely self-contained and independent of each other.

Hi Richard

It seems they are not. If I install 6.3.,1 which is still my favorite Tarot version, I need essential files and the same goes for the new version. I have to run a full setup and that probably will not make the older versions work. Right now I call it a day and will remain without the Orphalese Tarot til I find the solution and are able to install .NET 1.1 again, there seems to be too many issues about installation with the new one.

Cheers Thomas
