Dear Richard:

The changes you are looking forward to make in January are welcome by me. You work many hours to improve the program. And most of all, you are listening to all the suggestions received and tried very hard to please everyone... and doing it for free!!! That extra work needs compensation, you deserve it.

I will be buying all the upgrades!

Yup, seems pretty fair to me too since it follows convention for software development.

Honestly I think the program is mature for trascending mere shareware and enter the major league. Tarot and Astrology programs, on a high percentage, are sold like professional software, with prices ranging from affordable to scandalous. I know a lot of these programs, and no one looks and feels like Orphalese, period. If I can lend a hand in this direction... I'll take a step beyond. Best regards.

Hi Dominatrix,

Actually, since you mention it I was going to ask you for a small favour...

You might have noticed in the Options form that I got rid of the possibility of browsing for a back for the current deck. I figured that this possibility is probably not used very often, and if there is a back that someone wants to use with a particular deck it is not really any trouble to just name it back and copy it in.

I decided it was much more useful to have this option on the general settings part of the Options form, so that when a deck is downloaded and it doesn't have a back, there is a default back ready for use (or the colour gradient, people can decide which they prefer). So do you have any ideas for a default back to supply with the Orphalese Tarot, that could potentially go with any deck? I am sure you will have some inspiration so I will leave it with you :)

Cheers
Richard

Dear All,

About 18 months ago, I was researching Tarot software programs with a view to writing an article about the different types of available software. That's when I first came across Orphalese. So, I had downloaded quite a number of different programs, ranging from freeware to demo versions of full-scale products.

At that time, there was only one program that I would have considered superior to Orphalese and it sold for US$99 or US$199 depending on whether you purchased their professional or personal edition. When I say superior, their personal edition would have been on par with Orphalese, but for serious Tarot readers, you would have needed to purchase their professional edition, as the personal edition had many shortcomings.

I didn't look at Orphalese again until a few months ago and I so amazed at its development and inclusion of new features that did not exist in any other software program, that I became a registered user. Even in the short time since my registration, there have been so many wonderful enhancements, and Richard continues to develop........Orphalese now blows all other competitors out of the market.

The unregistered version of Orphalese is such a wonderful little program in itsElf, that you would expect to pay for it. Richard, I've never quite understood your generosity - offering the unregistered version for an unlimited period of time, but you are to be highly commended for it.

In addition to making users pay for upgrades, I think you should seriously consider offering the unregistered program for a designated period of time. Or, perhaps even rethink it to just be a reader rather than a writer product. So that other people with the full version can still share their readings.

You mentioned something about a yearly fee for registered users. Were you thinking this would occur at the same time for every user, or are you going to stagger the renewal fee so that it is 12 months from your registration date? I think the latter is how most other software vendors manage it.

Keep up the good work, Richard. I have posted in other threads but it's worth saying here again. You are truly inspirational in your open-mindedness to listen to, consider, and implement where possible, all suggestions that are offered to you.

Regards

That's done, I've already sent a back-card test for you. Let me know if it works, or if you need any given measure. My idea is showing Orphalese Tarot on it, but I'm thinking about a problem: the back must be adapted in shape an size to the non-backed deck. This can spoil an ellaborated design or making the visuals unpleasant due to excesive enlarmenet or distortion. Have your tests and let me know, while I ponder the idea a little while. Does .NET offer the possibiliy of tint a given graphic? If so, we can have a colour chooser for better customizing. Best.
