Editing the cardnotes file

To standardize my decks to Orphalese I'm going to have to renumber them. This isn't a problem with the images (love irfanview), but the card notes is another issue. The notes are tied to the number correct? So I'm thinking I will need to do a find and replace? find 32 replace it with 72 or whatever. That seems very labor intensive for 78 card in a slue of decks. Is there any quicker way to do this? I'm actually lucky in that I haven't done extensive notes so won't have to do this with all my decks.. but if there is an easier way I'd love to hear about it :o)

Hi Shari,

Last night I renumbered the mixed Strength and Justice cards to make them all Strength 8 and Justice 11. I had to swap the card notes for some of the decks and I thought I'd share my process, though, it might not be quicker than what you've already suggested (and it was only two lots of notes within the deck, not whole suits).

I downloaded and opened Marvin's 78 card Tarot spread and then just reloaded each deck that needed changing. I opened the card notes and did a simple cut and paste from one card to the other.

It worked quite well with just the two cards. As I said, I don't know if it would be quicker than what you had in mind, or not. But, it was good to be able to see the image to make sure I was posting the data in the right card.

Thanks!
I'll try both ways and let you know which works faster :o)

Hi,

By the way, thanks for the feedback! I didn't know if those spreads would be of any use to most of our OT community!

Later,

Marvin

Hi Marvin,

that spread is fantastic for compiling notes but it's even better for seeing the whole deck out, all at once.

I used it last night to get all of my Osho Zen Notes straight. Somehow, they were all muddled. It was like piecing together a jigsaw puzzle.....I'd open the untitled notes for one card, read them, then try to find their rightful place. In fact, I had so much fun doing it, I'm thinking of jumbling up some other card notes just so I can go through the same process again. Could make for an interesting Tarot game AND, it helps you to learn the card meanings as you figure out which one belongs where.

What a great suggestion for newer readers! I tell everyone they should get this program.. now I could even use it with students. I could send them a card file and they have to fix the notes to the cards.

You guys are great!!!

Thank you Marvin, purple_scorp, & of course Richard!!!!

Hi Shari,

Hmm, maybe when Richard gets some free time (joke) he can install a button for Mix-up Card Notes and it makes a copy of the real CardData.xml file and then randomly allocates the interpretation to a new set of cards and saves it in a new file.

Then, you could email it to your students and have them fix it and email it back. And, it could automatically be graded (because Richard would have created a comparison feature that compares their answers to the real CardData.xml file) and you could then print them out a certificate with their results.

Well, Tarot should be fun, shouldn't it?

Ahhh......yes, I have way too much time on my hands.
