Beta Version Number in About

Hi Richard,
it's not a bug - just a small point that the About for Beta 6.5 shows as 6.4.2 which could be confusing, particularly if you've installed the Beta on the same computer as the real software. Is it very time consuming or difficult to update this information for future Beta releases?

Hi Scorp,
The actual release number of the last beta was 6.4.2.3 (the three at the end being the third build since I first released 6.4.2).
If you want to know where to find the full release number, the splash screen shows Major and Minor, the about form shows Major, Minor and Release, and if you hover the mouse over the version label on the about form you will see all four numbers: Major, Minor, Release and Build.
I have been referring to it as the 6.5 beta but in fact I am in two minds about when to release it, and what as. I want to go ahead and make some pretty far reaching changes to the reading notes form, and this will probably not be stable enough to release for a few weeks. So I will probably release the current beta as 6.4.3 and save the 6.5 tag for the version with the reading notes changed.
The reason the doesn't have the number it will eventually receive (apart from me not being sure what number that would be) is that the download button in the Tarot Zone flashes to alert users when there is a new version. This is possible because the program compares its own current version to a config setting on the website. If the beta already had that number already then the beta testers would not get the message to install the final version when it was ready.
Hope this clarifies it!
Richard
