Compare Cards problem

Hi, I used the trial version of Orphalese, then I registered. A great program! The Compare Cards screen does not have the right half of the screen. I can select any and all decks but only compare fool cards 00. There's no way to select a different card. Is this a bug? It's not the tab-that shows the compared cards. Thanks -Tachikoma

Hi Timothy,
Thanks for reporting this, it certainly sounds like a bug, and not one that has been reported before. Do you think you could send a screenshot of the compare cards form to me directly at
admin@orphalese.net? There might be something there which gives me a clue. Also, in the directory where Orphalese Tarot is installed you might find there is a text file called simply errors.txt. This is generated automatically when the program traps an error. If so, it would be really handy if you could send that too.
Cheers
Richard

Richard,
Thanks for your reply. How do I post a screen shot here? There are no error messages- the compare card screen comes up with the desks listed on the left with check boxes. nothing to the right side. Thanks for your help

Hiya,
I didn't mean for you to post it here. Could you attach it to an email and send it to me at
admin@orphalese.net?
What I wanted to clarify is what you meant by nothing. Is there a list with nothing in it except the first item, or is it the the form is truncated in some way, or that the computer is not refreshing that part of the screen so that the area where the list of cards should be appears transparent and shows whatever is open underneath it? The screen shot might reveal something else unusual that you may not have noticed because if you haven't seen the compare cards form work properly, but which might contain a clue as to what is causing the bug.
Cheers,
Richard

OK Richard, I emailed you a screenshot of the Comparisions Window. You'll see there is no list at all on the right side. Just the white color of the Windows color scheme. Hope we can figure it out. Comparisions of the different artists are a really good feature. Thanks

Hi Timothy,
I am afraid your email with the screenshot has not arrived. I will send you a different email address and maybe you could try again with that one? It might be that the attachment is too big for the
admin@orphalese.net account, so the message is not getting to me.
Just going by what you have said though, it certainly sounds as though the list is missing, and not just the list in the sense of the list of card names, but the bordered box which contains the list of names is not there. I say this because the listbox does not have white (i.e. window colour) background, the background colour of the missing list is actually control colour, e.g. on my machine it is a kind of khaki - the same colour as the control panel on the left hand side in the OTZ.
Could you confirm that you can see the edge of the compare cards window all the way around (i.e. it is not because the window has become ridiculously wide for some reason and the list is off the side of the screen). Also, could you confirm that you can see the whole of the tree control (i.e. the panel where you select your decks to compare, which does have a white background). There should be a couple of milimeters between this control and the edge of the window - can you see this all the way around?
I will send you my other email address separately.
Cheers,
Richard

To recap for the forum: I installed the new Net Framework 1.1, I installed the new version of the Orphalese Tarot program, and I installed the revised ini to make Orpahlese use the new Net Framework. Thanks, Richard!

This is just for the benefit of other people who might read this thread, as some of the correspondence involved was off line. The problem reported was that the Compare Cards form didn't seem to have the list at the right hand side that lets the user select which card they want to compare. It soon became apparent that the sizing of the various components of the screen was going wrong, and the tree where one selects decks was taking up the whole available space, either obscuring the list or pushing it off to one side.
In spite of taking the steps reported above (downloading 1.1 of the framework, downloading the latest version of the program and checking for updated video drivers) the problem has not gone away.
The problem seems to be related to Tachikoma's computer set up, which is a widescreen laptop with a non-standard resolution. He has experience similar situations running other programs.
If anyone has experienced anything similar (or even better found how to fix it!) it would be great to hear from you!
Richard
