more about reversals

Richard, I forgot to tell that even if I have all the decks in O reversals in the deck option and general options...with both options marked for O reversals, all the decks continue with the percent of reversals that i marked for 1 deck as a current deck option only, and leaving the O percent for general in that same deck.

Love,
Aurora

Hi Aurora,

Thanks for your feedback about the reversals. As you were out of town for the last week you will have missed the thread where Gisela posted about exactly this issue.

Really this is not a bug, it is just that the behaviour of the program is not very intuitive. At the moment the cards are never automatically set to be the right way around when you change decks. In fact, changing decks often leaves the cards completely undisturbed. This is by design, to facilitate comparative reading. However, it is slightly counterintuitive, because in real life when you reach for a fresh deck you do not expect them to be in the same order and with the same reversals as the previous deck you were using!

Could I invite you to read through the thread with Gisela from last week about reversals? I think between us we arrived at the best compromise to help comparative reading and get around this apparent anomaly - please let us have your thoughts!

Richard

Hi Richard:

I read the posts, and I think it is good for comparative readings only.

But I use reversals with only some decks, and do not do comparative readings all the time.

I thought this new feature will let me decide to use reversals or not, for each deck individually.
Why do you have the options for the individual deck if it overides the general option, when it is in O reversals? I still do not understand the use of this option. Maybe it is too complicated for me!!!
Or maybe the program is meant to be used with the 5 reversals, and not O reversals... and I do not know it?

Anyway I will continue using the general option in O reversal...until I understand how this feature works for me.

Thanks,

Aurora

Oh Richard!
It is a mess when I have to explain myself in English!!!

I should had said in my last post: that if I select the individual option for 10 of reversals, for only one deck, why this selection overides the general option of O reversals for all the other decks in the program?
Even after I changed all the options in all the decks to O it continues showing reversals. I had to close the program and open it again to have O reversals.

Hi Aurora,

Don't worry, as I say it is not too clear at the moment - the problem is with the program, not your English!

To use the program as you would like, just do the following when you switch decks:

1) Sort the deck ascending or descending. This will get rid of all reversals.
2) Shuffle the deck. This will create reversals in the percentage you specified.

Sorting the deck is the only way to reorder it so there are no reversed cards.

Richard

Hi Everyone,

I have uploaded a new beta - 6.3.2.1 - which should behave in a more obvious way. When you switch decks the behaviour of the program depends on whether there are cards out of the pack. If there are cards out the program assumes you are doing a comparative reading and doesn't shuffle or re-order anything. If there are no cards out the program assumes you want to start with a fresh deck, so it begins by first reordering and then shuffling the deck.

Best,

Richard

Thanks, Richard!

The two options are working properly. It is fantastic to have this option for some decks!!!!!

Excellent work, Richard, even better than having a dialog box jumping out all the time like we'd talked about before. You are the best.
