Hi, I need help to re enable the Popup message screen whenever a spread is selected to do a reading. I like this feature very much because it allows me to refocus, and when I'm ready I just need to click at the screen an then only the cards are spread out. Unfortunately now, whenever I select a spread the cards instantly gets layed out

. Thanks for any help available.

Hi, I'm still hopeful if someone can help me to re enable default pop up screens in this software. I've been a longtime registered user and love this program very much. I know the easiest way is to uninstall it andreinstall the software but unfortunately I dont understand why I cant uninstall it the normal method because its not in the Add/Remove prgram in windows. I've uninstalled it manually and unfortunately unable to reinstall the latest version. It gives an error code.

My version is 8.8.1.2 So I have to use System restore to be able to use again Orphalese software.
It doesnt matter that I cant update my software but I truly wish there is a way I can enable the default popup screen when a spread is chosen.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

While a few people have read your message, apparently none of them knows how to help, which is why you haven't had any replies yet. Richard's been busy, so he hasn't been to the forum for awhile, but he will be, if you are patient.
For myself, I'm not sure what "pop up screen" you're refering to. When I select a spread, the spread is laid out automatically, the way you describe your program working now. I don't remember it ever working any other way. My only guess is maybe you were somehow going through the spread creation wizard first? But that doesn't seem like what you're describing either, so I don't know.
Have you tried going through Options (F9) and seeing if any of the settings there might help?

It's also curious that you can't find Orphalese in the Add/Remove Programs list. (Not that you should need to uninstall/reinstall to recover the feature you're looking for, but it should be in that list.)

Thank you for your reply. I have the same problem as encountered by another user here
http://www.orphalese.willowsheart.co.uk ... =16&t=1929. I did what the programmer suggested by putting the decks at My Documents/Orphalese Tarot/Packs. I left it at that, cos It didnt bother me then that I'm unable to find the program at Add/Remove Programs. However after I lost the pop up window (it comes up when a spread is selected and it reconfirms if that is the spread we want to use.), I uninstall the software manually using REVO Uninstaller (Usually after a fresh install, all the default popups will be enabled again). Unfortunately evertime I tried to install the program an
error code 2869 occur. After several atempt I had to resortr to system restore in order to use the software again
Hope someone can help me solve my problem. Thanks.

Hi There,
I don't know how I completely managed to miss this thread, anyway I have only just seen it, sorry.
I wish I had seen it earlier because the spreads thing sounds quite trivial, but the install problem is much more difficult.
Every time I see the number 2869 with reference to Windows Installer I just want to curl up and cover my head. Sometimes this error occurs, mostly for users of Windows Vista, and I have tried every suggestion I have come across on the internet in order to be able to stop it from happening. It only seems to happen for some Vista users, and I have never been able to get access to a machine which has the problem, so I have got no way to debug it directly. I have posted about it on Microsoft forums without getting any helpful response.
When I get the time I am going to try to recompile the program with a more recent version of the compiler (Visual Studio 2010 instead of Visual Studio 2005) and hope that the problem has somehow been resolved in the last five years. At the moment I get two or three emails a year from people with this problem and I can't do anything to help them.
Regards the problem with the spread, you said "I select a spread the cards instantly gets layed out". This is the normal behaviour for a spread, the only time the program behaves differently is if you are choosing the cards one by one to lay them out. To do this you need to go into Free Selection Mode (with the deck fanned out) first and then deal the spread. I expect this was the step you were forgetting.
If I manage to make any headway on the installer issue I will post back on this thread.
Cheers
Richard

Just an update: I am installing VS 2010 now so I hope to produce a version of the Orphalese Tarot in the next few days which will come with the new installer.
In the meantime I thought of something you can try. Because you weren't able to uninstall in the normal way it could be that the Orphalese Deck Service is still running, and that this is preventing you from reinstalling. To make sure it is properly uninstalled you need to go into Services (Windows Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services) and look for "Orphalese Deck Service" in the list. If you find it then press Stop to stop the service. Then go to [Program Files]/Orphalese/Orphalese Tarot and delete the file DeckService.exe. After that you can retry the installation.
I haven't ever related this to the 2869 problem before but it could be an issue after the slightly messy uninstall so it is probably worth checking.
Cheers,
Richard

I found myself with some time on my hands so I have compiled that new version (or rather, the program is the same but it uses a new version of the installer). It will probably prompt you to install .NET Version 4.

Thank You Richard for your reply. I shall try your advice and will post back the feedback. I hope it works. I'm using Windows XP professional. Sorry for not informing earlier.

I shall try the above remedy, maybe thats the reason I was unable to uninstall the program and reinstall again.
Richard, I would like to thank you for this wonderful program. Its an amazing and versatile software and at such a reasonable price!
I've used it for almost 5 years and truly love it.
I shall post the feedback once I try the method you give.
Thanks Again.
