Hi Richard (or anyone else out there who may know),
Can you please tell me what fixes or enhancements come with versions 8.2 and 8.3. I'm still running 8.1 and pretty happy with it thank you, but I'm also keen to have the latest bells and whistles. Just need to know what they might be
I did read the idea about an indication to scroll if there were more card notes. sounds good, has that been implemented?
And speaking of card notes. I'd actually like to HAVE TO CLICK on a card to access the notes, rather than have them all flash at me when I move my mouse to the card I want to read next.
Looking forward to card rotation too. Quite frankly, I think 90 degree increments would be perfectly sufficient really.
Hope you manage to sort everything with Orphalese to your own satisfaction before everyone elses...
Regards Adam (Sumada)

Hi Adam, I'm not positive what is in what version. But yes the scrolling of the notes is working in version 8.3.1. There has also been something with the Zoom updated, but I can't figure out how to work that so I'm not seeing a difference. The numbering in the edit box has also changed so the Fool or 1st card is Zero, AND you can also tell how many cards are in the deck (very nice addition Richard!).
As to your suggestion, many people like the ablity of moving the mouse and having the card notes change. I'd suggest you turn off the pop-up-notes, and you can then click F6 to see the notes.
I did think there used to be a default setting for the pop-ups, so you could just F8 and your default notes would show up, but I couldn't find that. That might be a quick way to have the best of both worlds. I tend to work in F6 (edit mode) the majority of the time.

Figured out the zoom thing. F7 to open up the zoom window, with your mouse select a smaller portion of the card, and it will automatically Zoom that, you can then click on another card and the same area of that card will zoom.

Hi Adam, Shari
Yes, the main idea is that you can click on different cards and the zoom window shows whichever card you last clicked on. This would be of benefit if you dealt out a spread with lots of cards and so they were small on the screen. If you have zoomed on a particular area of a card, then you should see this detail on the next card, as you describe. The idea for this is to help compare certain decks which always have a certain detail, such as an astrological symbol or whatever, in a certain place. Press F7 at any time to refresh the image.
The other new feature is that in the Deck Exchange you can see the size of the zip file, but only if the person sharing it is also using 8.3. Otherwise it shows as a ?.
Cheers,
Richard

Hello again Richard and Shari,
Thank you both for your very prompt replies! I have downloaded the update, but waiting till I have tidied up all my deck folders prior to backing them up and then I'll install the new version.
Changing the numbering in the edit box so that the Fool (or 1st card) becomes Zero is brilliant, and something I've been meaning to suggest for some time. All your ongoing developement and subtle tweaks are really what make Orphalese truely the greatest Tarot program ever. Thanks again Richard, has become my daily mantra!
Now, re the P2P business. I've had mixed success with this part of the program. I must admit I have not shared any decks as yet, but I'm working on it. I have a couple that I'm scanning and typing up the notes for that I have not found anywhere at all on the net.
But my queries about P2P are: Am I right in saying that for every deck that appears on the list there is an Orphalese user online that has that deck shared?. and that if they disconnect the deck will disapear off the list? I see the number of pages of decks fluctuate so assume this is so. Also, if I'm in the middle of a deck download and it just suddenly stops happening, does this mean the other party has disconnected? And yet when I've had this experience the deck in question has remained on the list!!??!! Very frustrating. So far my success rate is only about one in every ten, and seeing I'm only on dialup way down in New Zealand the decks I do get take an average of 15 -20 minutes!
Phew, long paragraph. I'll keep trying, but a few answers and/or comments about the above would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Adam

Hi Adam,
Yes, you are right about the way the Exchange works. When someone has shared decks, these are always available for other users to see when the first user is online. They don't have to be running the Orphalese Tarot program, because the deck sharing is handled by the background process DeckService.exe, which is installed together with the program.
When someone goes off line their decks should disappear from the list, although this does not always happen. It depends whether it is a nice, orderly Windows shutdown, or whether the connection is lost because of an internet glitch. If you request a deck, and the other user cannot be found, that should also knock their decks off the list, but you would have to refresh the page first to notice it. On the other hand, from what you have said about your internet connection it is more likely that the request is timing out at your end.
When you get the new version you will see that it also contains a column showing the size of the zip file in kb. By limiting yourself to the smaller decks, and ones with a green icon (which represents a fast upload speed on the other user's machine) you should be able to receive decks even using a dial-up connection.
Cheers,
Richard
