Hello,
always when I try to install the new version, the install-wizzard tells me, that he did not find the Deck service exe in Folder D/Programme/Orphalese. It is in D/Programme/Orphalese/Orphalese Tarot. So I have copyed the Deck service exe in that folder, than this guy tells me, that he could not opfen that file.
I cant connect to the Deck-Exchange without that update. It didnt work for version 8.0
Please, could you help me?

Ah - I have than deinstalled the programm completley and tried to install new. Than he didnt find an other file and installed nothing. But I had a copy on DVD, so I could make the old version run again.

Hi Tanja,

Could you let me know the exact wording of the error message you receive? I appreciate that you may be seeing the message in a different language, but perhaps I can do a Google search on it and find something that will give me the corresponding message in English. If there is an error code or number that appears that would be very useful to know. Sometimes when there is an Installer error there is a button saying Details which you can use to get a longer version of the message.

Trying to translate by Personal Translator Pro:

Initializing the installation an exception has appeared: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: File Assembly: /// D: Programs Orphalese DeckService.exe or a dependence of it was not found. The System cannot find the given File.

What I do: I found No File DeckService.exe anywhere. But I found the File DeckService.exe.config and DeckService in D: Programme Orphalese Orphalese Tarot, I cut both out and put it in D: Programme Orphalese. Tried to install. Than I receive the following message:

Die Installertypen in der Assembly D:Programme Orphalese DeckService.exe können nicht abgefragt werden. Mindestens ein Typ in der Assembly kann nicht geladen werden. Rufen Sie die Loader Exceptions-Eigenschaft ab, wenn Sie weitere Informationen benötigen.

Thanks for posting those extra details. Unfortunately they don't help a great deal, because the error message is a very generalised one which could have several causes.

Basically, what is happening is that the Installer is trying to install a number of files. One of the files it installs is DeckService.exe. But the Installer has to do things in a precise order. For some reason DeckService.exe is not installed. Then, a subsequent part of the installation routine tries to install another component, probably Tarot.exe, and this is where because the error happens, because DeckService.exe needs to be there first.

Here are some things you could try. First, make sure you are logged on to Windows as an administrator. Do you share the machine? Maybe you user does not have full permissions. I don't think this is very likely but I have to check.

Then make sure no other programs are running when you do the install. Turn off any other programs, including any anti-virus programs. It is only for a few minutes. If you are worried about doing this you can disconnect from the internet first. It is worth trying this in case another program is conflicting with the install.

You could also try accepting all the defaults and installing to drive C: instead. I don't think this would make a difference but it is worth a try. If the install works you can always copy the program folder across from one drive to the other.

I hope you get lucky with one of these suggestions!

BTW, Has anyone else tried to install the new version yet?

I installed on a XP Pro machine and everything appears to to working correctly. I did have some issue with accessing the website via F2, but my card files appear fine, and everything is working. I install the program to the C drive but keep all my personal files on D, and it found everything fine.

I didn't play around a whole lot, will try to do that later today, but so far everything is working.

I have tried all the things that you have said: nothing works. Than I have tried to install completly new. But I am not able to delete the programm, because the DeckService.exe is missing. If I delete the programm file per file and try to install (no matter C or D), than he tells me, that he did not find the DeckService.exe.
Nothing works.

Is it possible for you to send me that horrible DeckService.exe per mail and tell me, where I have to put it in the programm? May be that this works.

Hello Richard,

a friend of mine had send me the complete copy of her installeted Ophralese (the complete Files from C,Programme,Orphalese. I have copied it in C - and it works. My old version was 8.0 - now it is 8.1. But I am still not able to update - but I can go to the deckexchange.

I have uploaded the files DeckService.exe and Tarot.exe, in a single zip file, which you can access from the downloads page. It is at the bottom of the page in the section called Other Downloads, the links says Executables (zip file). You should unzip the contents to the Orphalese Tarot directory in Program Files.

I have copyd the files Executables. The Programm runs, but all buttons say the same. There is for example no button Tarot Zone all are restring not found.
Ok. It seems I have to bring the PC to an doctor and let it repair.

Hi Tanja,

In that case it sounds like you are missing the languages resource files as well. For example, to see the program in German you should have a sub directory called de with a file called tarot.resources.dll.

I have added some more files to the executables zip, so now it should contain the bare minimum that you or anyone needs for running the program, without using Windows Installer. Just unzip the file anywhere you like, for example My Documents and run the program from the exe. The only feature that will be missing is the ability to share decks on the Deck Exchange.
