Hi Debbi,

Sorry I spelled your name wrong on my previous post.

If you have version 8.10 and everything seems to be working then there isn't really any need to reinstall the program, so I would leave things as they are.

With regard to the two versions, it sounds like the earlier, larger program was the Tarot of Dreams or Aeclectic Tarot (the images are larger which is why it is a bigger file). Is it possible you removed the program by deleting it from your Program Files folder instead of using "Add/Remove Programs"? It is clear that Windows has become a bit confused because in fact you can only have one version at a time (because the program always installs to the same place, and you can't have two files with the same name in the same place). So I wouldn't try removing the older one because it would probably delete the version 8.10 files in the attempt.

You mentioned something about losing your spreads. Remember that the program now stores all its decks, spreads and readings in My Documents/Orphalese Tarot. Any decks or spreads that you had before would have been in Program Files/Orphalese/Orphalese Tarot, so you should move everything from there into the My Documents location.

Cheers,
Richard

No problem on the name. :-) I left the ë"off as a kid. There were 5 of us in jr. high.

I messed up fully. So bad, I am seriously thinking of doing a complete system recovery. I DID mess up and accidently deleted the files from programs. It would not reinstall at all. I had a back-up on a removable hard drive. Reinstalled, repaired, etc. Repaired .NET Frame 4.0. I could not just reinstall freshly, I got that nasty "2869"error. argh!

I still cannot get to p2p exchange, even with all the repairs. I get the exception box. I have back ups of everything. A long process, but I cannot get the program to work properly because I, stupidly, did something I could do on the old Win 98 with a teen nearby to fix stuff. (No longer have one to help.)

For anyone out there, never try a restore to an earlier version with Norton running on Win 7. I have not tried it again and shutting it off temporarily. I may do that first after making sure everything is backed up properly.

Dang, I have not messed up a program in a long while. I will never do anything until I read the programmer reply first either. :$ Any thoughts before I do a cleaning back to the original version when I got the netbook a year ago, I will wait until you reply. Dang... I cannot believe I did this.

Well...the error when you try to connect to the P2P network could be nothing to do with your Windows Installer woes. There is another problem which is affecting some users, causing the same kind of error, which I am hoping to get fixed a.s.a.p. That has been discussed on a thread under "Decks - Help and Support".

I would suggest waiting until that issue is fixed, which will hopefully be as soon as this weekend. Then there will definitely be a good version to try to move up to. At that point you can try getting rid of the existing installations by using the Windows Install Clean-up Utility or whatever other methods come to hand.

I am sure you don't really want to reinstall Windows unless absolutely all else fails, so watch the other thread and then let's take it from there. :-)

I got a bit busy and did not keep up and you informed. I am sorry. I know what I did was operator error, even with the P2P problem I had at the beginning of the year. :$

Today, I managed to not mess everything up, uninstalled the mess I made, downloaded the newest version, and all is working well. I kept copies of the decks, spreads and readings on a separate hard-drive. I get a message the author of a deck is not available in P2P, but it is most likely the person is not available for an upload. I will go to the thread you mentioned and get caught up all around.

But the program is up and running properly. Yea! Thank you again for such a cool program. I love it and glad to have it. I do not think any other would ever compare.

Glad you got it sorted, I replied on your other post before I saw this. I thnk the message you were getting on P2P was a server error. I am rebooting the server right now while I type this.
