Thanks for all of your comments Richard...
The latest version of Orphalese is now properly installed in both my desktop and laptop.
There is no obvious reason for the difficulty I had updating my desktop, as I had deleted the program using the Windows facility and followed the very straightforward update instructions. After experiencing the error message previously described, I exported two registry entries for safekeeping and then deleted the registry data to make sure everything commonly associated with a program had been deleted. The update process still failed, the error message appeared, so the saved registry entries were restored.
The next step was to perform the update on the laptop. Instead of using the the Windows delete facility, I used a utility caleed 'Revo Uninstaller' which has facilities for removing program bits and pieces that the Windows utility does not. The update worked without any problem. The rest is simple, I copied everything from the laptop Orphalese directory to the empty Orphalese directory on the desktop, fired up the program and it worked perfectly. Perhaps a round-about solution, but everything is working fine on both units.
It appears that the display of upright card comments with reversed cards may have had something to do with the creation of the readings and/or using an older version of the program when the readings were first archived. After Orphalese was updated and new readings were saved, everything works as expected. this situation remains a mystery. Thanks again for your assistance Richard. Hopefully all of these comments may be of help to others.
