Here is a link that covers some common "Windows Installer" problems and might be useful to anyone who is reading this thread...

Okay. Let's try this another way. Let's go one step at a time.
First, I'll restate the problem:
I can't install the latest version of Orphalese (version 8.5.1.4 from Download.com). After downloading, unzipping, and clicking my way through the setup, I get to this point:
The blue status bar is almost complete (about 99%) on the Installing Orphalese Tarot/Orphalese Tarot is being installed window when---
A secondary window pops up with this message:
"The specified service already exists. [OK button]"
I click the OK button and the blue bar returns to 0% and its window now has this message:
"Installation incomplete. The installer was interrupted before Orphalese Tarot could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again. Click Close to exit."
I click close to exit. Retry and get the same result.
What should I do next?
Thank you.

Hi Orphuser,
People may come in in the middle of this thread or even right at the end, so as well as restating the problem let's restate the fact that one should never try to manually delete Windows programs unless all else fails. Programs should be removed using the Add/Remove programs tool. If that fails, there is a Windows Registry Cleanup Utility available from Microsoft which can normally remove all trace of a program. We have only got to this point because the correspondent has already tried these methods without success.
Windows Installer is supposed to guarantee a complete rollback on uninstall, but Microsoft does not offer any other solution beyond the utility mentioned above for when this does not happen. So manually deleting the program files and the registry keys probably takes you out of whatever warranty Windows comes with.
Having said all that...
The service referred to in the error message will be the Orphalese Deck Service, a component of the program. Since the installation program is getting 99% of the way to the end, it may be that this is the only component that the uninstaller has not been able to remove or unregister.
You could try and remove it in the following way:
First make sure it has been physically deleted from its normal location C:\Program Files\Orphalese\Orphalese Tarot\Deck Service.exe. I assume you have already manually deleted the entire Orphalese directory from program files anyway. If it were still there and it was still running, you would need to stop the service in System >> Admin Tools >> Service Manager first.
Then delete the six keys from the middle of the list above that start HKLM\SYSTEM\ and contain the words "Orphalese Deck Service". They are the keys which relate to this component. They are not part of Windows because they are created during the setup of the Orphalese Tarot program. You can delete them. Also the key that follows them in the list HKU\S-1-5-21-1343024091-1078081533-725345543-1008\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Assemblies\C:|Archivos de programa|Orphalese|Orphalese Tarot|DeckService.exe should be deleted. The long numeric part of the string might be different for you than for me, I am not sure about that.
After that try to install the program again.
