Tried sharing decks...

Post by kwaw »

I have given deckservice.exe admin rights and permission to connect in the firewall.

Tried again and this time the 'do test' for connectivity was successful, reporting that others can now see my shared files.

Still no other users shown on line to share, perhaps there is no one else on line to share at moment, will try again later.

Tried sharing decks...

Hi Kwaw,

I don't think it is that. I don't remember the last time I connected and there was no-one sharing. If you like you could try sending me the ShareLog.xml file which you should find in the Orphalese Tarot program directory (to administration at orphalese dot net). It might possibly contain some clue as to what is going wrong.

Cheers,
Richard

At moment as I said both orphalese and deckservice have full admin priviledge and firewall permissions. In explorer both are covered with a shield, but not the orphalese icon on the desktop. When I start orphalese from the desktop I am informed there is an unidentified program wishing to access the computer and have to give permission. that is the only permission request I get (no permission to access internet for example when I start up file exchange).

When I start file exchange the search box is greyed out. I click the arrows and at the top and at the bottom it then shows I have three decks to share but no sharers or decks online. If I click the share button and do the connect test it says others can see my shared files. If I then go back and click the binoculors (even thouth it is pointless as there are no users online to share with according to the text at bottom) the search box greys out. If I then go back to files shared and do the connect test the roundabout timer comes on, sometimes after a long time it will stop and say I am not connected, other times it just goes on and on, I am unable to do anything else with the computer while the timer is going round and eventually have to use control.alt.delete to close the program.

I will search out the log and send it thanks.

Hi Kwaw,

Did you send that log yet? It hasn't reached me so far.

That said, could you have another go at connecting to the Exchange anyway? I have changed a couple of configuration settings and the is an outside chance that it will have made a difference.

Thanks :-)

I am posting this on the off chance that anyone who has contributed on this thread has subscribed to receive notifications. The new beta has been out for a couple of weeks now, and does include some changes to the way the Deck Exchange works. Anyone who is has been unable to connect to the exchange in the past may find that it now works for them. It would certainly be worth testing :-)
