This also means that all the online services such as the deck exchange are also unavailable at the moment. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause.
Greetings, sorry to hear you are having problems with the web site and wish you well with sorting it out. Will still recomend the site and value the support I have recieved in the past, good luck with the technical end! Phil

Ah. Okay, now I understand why I couldn't get to the Deck Exchange and the Registration. This set of posts explains the situation completely. I'll stop tweaking the firewalls trying to get to the Deck Exchange.

As a question, should we (or do we) uninstall the Deck Services now that the exchange is no longer a thing? And is there a swap forum available? And how do we bundle up the decks and spreads for emailing to each other?

Hi Eric,

As you say, the Deck Exchange is no longer a thing, so it would make sense to uninstall it using the original set up program you downloaded for it (which also contained an uninstaller). If you can't find this you can achieve the same result by going into Windows Services, finding the Deck Exchange and stopping it, and then setting the start up type to Manual. On Windows 7 you can get to this by typing "Services" into the search box in the start menu and then choosing View Local Services. Select Orphalese Deck Service and then a link appears to stop the service on the left. To change when it starts up you need to right click on it and select Properties. In Windows XP I think it is under Control Panel and then Administrative Tools.

As far as exchanging files with other users go, anyone is welcome to use this Forum to discuss how best to do this. Probably the easiest thing would be via a bit torrent client like Azareus Vuze (although it is a long time since I used this myself, it might be called something else now). Perhaps you could start a thread under Decks and gauge how much interest there is. I know it sounds like I am being lazy and making excuses but if I had the time to organize it myself I would be using it to get the Deck Exchange and other network features working again and go back to making some money from the program. I really am hoping to do this eventually but I don't know whether it will be this summer or the next one (in the summer months I get a bit more free time to work on these sort of things). When I do, everyone who ever registered the program will of course be registered for the new version, in whatever form it takes.

Once again, please accept my apologies for all this. The old server got compromised and shutting it all down was the only way to make sure users weren't being put at risk.

Cheers,
Richard
