Re: CardData.xml Files
Hi Stephanie,
Are you still getting the same error, or was it a one-off?
Thanks,
Richard

Re: Re: CardData.xml Files
Hi, Richard,
Yes, I'm still getting the same error, even after I cleaned out my cache (I thought that might be the problem, but it didn't fix it).
Thanks so very much!
By the way, I'm having so much fun with Orphalese! I would love to contribute, but I'm afraid I'm not computer-savvy enough to figure out how to add a deck to the exchange. In the meantime, I'm enjoying other people's contributions.
Take care!
:)

Re: Re: Re: CardData.xml Files
Hi Stephanie,
Just to let you know, I have been giving some thought to what might be causing you to get that error, but so far the penny hasn't dropped. What I might try to do is improve the error message so it gives a bit more useful feedback - if I may I will ask you to test it again when that code is in place.
Re the deck exchange, please feel free to play around with uploading decks and don't hold back because you are worried about doing something wrong or breaking something. I am sure you won't break anything and if you do you are among friends anyway :) If the upload doesn't work for some reason take another look at the exchange page and you might see a message in red telling you what went wrong.
Cheers,
Richard

Dear Richard,
Thanks so much for your help and your patience!
I'd love to contribute some decks--sorry to be so un-savvy, but are there any basic directions for how to begin uploading, etc.?
Best,
Stephanie

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: CardData.xml Files
Hi Stephanie,
Well, to upload a deck you need to zip up the deck folder to begin with. The deck folder can be found in the directory called Packs just under where the program is installed. Probably this is C:Program FilesOrphaleseOrphalese TarotPacks. I assume you have already discovered this because if it is a deck you are using with the program, whether it is one you scanned or one you created yourself, you will have already placed it in this location.
Zip up the whole folder, including the card images, and the PackInfo.xml file etc. If you are not sure what the PackInfo.xml file is or how it can be used, I suggest you look for it in the help file. Personally I have to confess that I normally only look at help files as a last resort, but in this case I know it will be helpful because I wrote it!
If you have written card notes to accompany the deck they can also be included.
When you have zipped the deck up, come into the Tarot Zone and navigate to the Deck Exchange page. At the bottom of the page, under the list of decks, is a button labelled Upload. When you click on that a small form appears which you can complete with facts about the deck. There are only one or two fields - name, description etc. There is also a button marked Browse. This is the most important bit. Press this and browse to where you put the zip file. Double-click on the zip file to select it. You will see the path of the zip file in the box next to where it says Browse. Now press the Upload button again and the file should begin uploading. You might have to be a bit patient if it is a big file. You should see a progress indicator which lets you know roughly how long the upload will take. When that disappears the upload is complete.
Hope this helps!
Richard

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: CardData.xml Files
Hi Stephanie,
Just to follow up on the CardData.xml files, I have updated the Tarot Zone so it should give you a more detailed error message when you try to access the CardData.xml page - if you are still not seeing the page right perhaps you could let me know what it says.
Cheers,
Richard

Hi Stephanie,
Thanks very much - that told me exactly what the problem was. If you have another go now you should find it is working again.
Cheers
