new pc- cant connect to exchange

Hi Richard

I have managed to get myself a new laptop, old one was getting very tired at 10yrs old lol.

I have swapped the registration from the old steam driven machine to the nice shiny new one and have made certain that the appropriate port of my Fire wall is clear for access, have the lastest version downloaded but as this is the first access on this machine wonder if I might have missed something or if the server has gone to sleep?

Just to add to this. I just tried as well, and my Vista machine did NOT connect, but my XP machine did. I'm wondering if M$ updated something that is blocking the P2P in Vista. I'm fairly sure I have accessed P2P from my Vista machine before. I'll play around a bit as well.

I didn't receive any type of error, when I clicked on the binoculars, they fade for a bit, and then come back, and there is no information on the decks or any decks showing.

I have turned everything on Vista off, firewall, UA, no virus program. still not working. I don't think it could be my router because I am connecting via my XP machine.

Are you experiencing the same thing? You can get into it, you click on the binoculars and it looks like it's looking for the decks and then nothing?

I just purchased the Orphalese software.

I am able to do everything in the program except access the deck exchange. I click on the binoculars, the world icon cycles, then nothing?

Am I doing something wrong? Is the data server down? Help?

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for missing this post until now, I was out of town for a couple of days. The server has been running fine, but the program that manages the exchanges had hung. The outcome I would expect people to see when this happens would be that the decks still appear on the list, but they are all unattainable. I tried the Exchange before restarting the server program and this is what I found, i.e. the decks were listed but attempting to get any of them gave the ubiquitous "other user might have logged off" error. So...I am not sure what has happening there, why people could not even get the list up. It should be working again now though...try again?

Hi Richard, my XP machine is working, but not my Vista machine. I haven't had any time to devote to this, so I'm not positive it's not somehow on my end, however I do have everything turned off, and I'm accessing through the same router on both machines. I know I was able to access on under a Vista machine prior to getting a new computer, however I'm not sure positive I've ever accessed it on this new machine. However typically when I do install Orphalese, I test it, so I would think I did that when I installed the program on the new machine.

I will try and do a few things to see if it is me, later tonight.

Thanks so much - as you said, the decks were visible on my old machine but nothing there to download, but on the newer install there was nothing visible.

All sorted now tho and working wonderfully - as usuall!

Thanks for your kind attention, and for all that you put into Orphalese for very little return, I love mine and would not be without it, it makes my life so much easier and by did I miss it when the exchange was gone :)

Everything is working fine now for me as well. I did un-install and re-install. I think I had dl from download.com for your numbers there, so I'm not sure if there was an update, or the version I got there was bad, or if it was just one of those computer things LOL in any case everything is back to normal.
