First Time Post (Chalice Deck)

Post by Kirk Anderson »

I stumbled across this software a little while ago, and just bought a license recently. In an unrelated email conversation with Richard, I happened to mention what prompted me--a habitual trier but not buyer of shareware--to pony up for this software. He felt the comments might be of value to the people who wanted a good idea where to start, in the dizzying sea of beautiful decks available out there(!). In short, I feel lucky to have hit upon the Chalice Deck so early.

Here's what I wrote him:

I must say that I am very impressed by the card data that goes with the Chalice deck! It sounds as if whoever wrote it was not only a veteran reader, but also deeply intuitive and insightful. The art is really very engaging as well. The software itself is versatile and easy to use, but I don’t think I would have discovered its true value without a deck like the Chalice. In light of the really singular resource that the combination represents, I could not in good conscience continue to use the program without paying for it, even though I had no specific plans ever to use the expanded features that come with registration.

I think Richard was right in the suggestion. If anyone is looking for a friendly, wise, experienced introduction to Orphalese, or to Tarot in general for that matter, I would say that the Chalice Deck could be a wonderful place to start. The author (Lynda Stevens)'s website indicates that she spent a good number of years getting the art correct, and wrote basically a dissertation to accompany them. The fact that we have access to such a resource so conveniently, I think is really cool!

Thanks, all.

I happen to know there is also a hand-printed version of the Chalice Tarot available. You can find out more here: http://www.alchemywebsite.com/tarot/art_tarot07.html

Hi there.

My deck has been available as a full 78-deck pack online for a while now. In 2020 I also got some great advice on how to really polish up the deck via Photoshop. It got simified a little on the one hand, and given more professional looking borders as well as a face-lift to the colours, and the result is here:

It's in 3 sizes. The Tarot size had a single border, the other sizes have a double border.

I also created a 40-card oracle, uso g a series of abstract artwork, called the Cascades Oracle. This is also Available at Gamecrafter:
